Tom Cruise’s “enthusiasm” for Princess Kate has gone viral on TikTok after he was seen clapping her arrival at Wimbledon.
The Hollywood star has been on a charm offensive with the Prince and Princess of Wales ever since they attended the premiere of his movie Top Gun: Maverick in May 2022, when he held Kate’s hand.
And he looked just as smitten as he clapped Kate onto Centre Court at the men’s singles final of Wimbledon on Sunday.
A clip of the moment went viral, being liked 205,000 times and viewed 3.7 million times after it was posted with the on-screen caption: “Standing ovation for Kate Middleton at the Wimbledon final. Two rows [back] you can see the enthusiasm by Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts.”
Canadian TV personality Sangita Patel posted the footage alongside the message: “Wow! This moment of seeing #katemiddleton and the standing ovation ❤️ I spy Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Cruise and Julia Roberts #wimbledon #finals.”
Kate’s reaction to Cruise holding her hand in 2022 was a hit with fans after she seemingly used a subtle switch of the hand with her clutch bag to stop him.
And the star also looked like he could not take his eyes off Kate during Wimbledon that year.
Cruise was back in the royal line of sight in February for a gala dinner at a London Air Ambulance Charity Gala Dinner in Westminster.William joked: “I should also take this opportunity to give a mention to my—our—fellow pilot, Tom Cruise.
“Tom, huge thanks for supporting us tonight. And Tom, if you wouldn’t mind not borrowing either of the new helicopters for the next Mission Impossible, it would be appreciated.
“We have all seen on our screens that—how can I put it—you seem to have a different take on ‘normal wear and tear’ to the rest of us. It’s not the kind that buffs out.”
Kate’s visit to Wimbledon was only her second public appearance of 2024, as she has been off work receiving chemotherapy for cancer.
Her health troubles began with abdominal surgery in January and it was after that procedure that she was diagnosed with a form of cancer that has never been made public.
