Jelly Roll Joins The Voice! Season 27’s Newest Twist Shocks Fans

Snoop Dogg Jelly Roll

Season 26 of “The Voice” has come to an end, with Sofronio Vasquez taking home the win. Michael Bublé was Vasquez’s coach in his debut season, and fellow newcomer Snoop Dogg had Jeremy Beloate in the finals representing his team. Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire also had representation in the well-rounded finale.

Ahead of the finale, Snoop Dogg was asked about possibly returning for another season. He was also asked who else he would like to have sitting in a coach’s seat next to him.

Snoop Dogg Would Love to Add Jelly Roll to the Coaching Team

E! News posed the question to Snoop Dogg, and there was no hesitation before he answered. He decided Jelly Roll would be a great addition to “The Voice” coaching team.

“I like Jelly Roll…Got a great story of redemption and hope and a lot of people are inspired by him,” he explained.

The pick did not exactly come out of left field. On November 27, Holler shared that “The Voice” star recently joined Jelly Roll on stage in Nashville, Tennessee.

It was the last concert of Jelly Roll’s Beautifully Broken tour, and Snoop Dogg made a surprise appearance on stage.

Before the night was over, the performers debuted their new duet.

The two performers collaborated on a song they titled “Last Dance with Mary Jane” and they performed it on stage in Nashville for the first time in front of an audience.

Jelly Roll Loved His Experience Collaborating on Snoop Dogg’s Album

According to Spin, Snoop Dogg’s album reunites him with Dr. Dre as a producer.

Spin noted that when Snoop Dogg appeared at the Bloomberg Screentime conference on October 10, he revealed both Jelly Roll and Sting recorded songs for the upcoming album.

After the collaboration was announced, Jelly Roll shared a few teasers during an interview on “The Bootleg Kev” podcast.

Jelly Roll said he couldn’t share much about the record as a whole, but said “It’s special. It is really good.”

He went to work with Dr. Dre in person to write the song and said it was an incredible experience.

Spin noted that Snoop Dogg’s song with Jelly Roll incorporates Tom Petty’s song “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” which was released in 1993.

“The Voice” fans won’t have an opportunity to see Jelly Roll sit next to Snoop Dogg in season 27, unfortunately.

According to NBC, the next season features John Legend, Buble, Adam Levine, and Kelsea Ballerini as the coaches. The season debuts on February 3, 2025.
