Born in Minneapolis, the icon singer Prince used his unique style and stage presence to showcase his wide range of music that included genres like pop, jazz, blues, hip hop, R&B, and even funk. Selling over 100 million albums, the singer gained international fame as he received countless awards and landed a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Not to mention, he wrote somewhere between 500 and 1000 songs. Sadly, in 2016, at 57 years old, Prince passed away. Leaving behind an impressive catalog and legacy, The Voice winner Asher HaVon took a moment to honor the icon while performing in Minneapolis.
Meaning Behind “You’re in My Heart’ by Rod Stewart and the Famous Girl Who Inspired It
While getting the chance to perform in Minneapolis, HaVon found no better moment to celebrate the legacy of Prince than to sing one of his most iconic songs “Purple Rain.” Sharing a video of the performance on his Instagram, the singer seemed to glide through the song. Appearing in his element, HaVon even made sure to get the crowd in on the performance.
Online, fans filled the comment section with love and support with one person writing, “My dear! I’m in awe, you’re a being of light who came into this life to leave us with pure feelings with your voice and songs! kisses from you Fan from BRAZIL !” Another person added, “Yesssss hunny you killed it!! So nice working with you, you did my city PROUD!!!!” And one comment insisted, “You killed it as always. Them high notes with the extra flavor made me want to throw my shoe.”
Reba McEntire Recalls Favorite Moment With Asher HaVon On ‘The Voice’
While building a sizable fanbase, one of HaVon’s biggest supporters is his former coach Reba McEntire. Helping her snag a win on The Voice, the country star continues to praise HaVon.
Reba recalled one of her favorite moments with HaVon on the show. “There was one song you were going to sing, and you said, ‘I don’t know how I’m going to perform this — I don’t know, I can’t relate to it,’ I said, ‘Think of somebody who can relate to it and channel that.’ That’s what I’ve been doing for 30, 40 years in my business. If I am singing about a situation I’ve never dealt with, channel somebody who has.”
HaVon continues to keep in touch with Reba following his win on The Voice, always willing to take her advice.
