Amid Brad Pitt’s alleged support to Nicole Kidman for Oscar 2025, new reports reveal how Tom Cruise had strained Kidman and Pitt’s friendship.

Prior to the Oscar race of 2025, Brad Pitt is making headlines for reportedly supporting Nicole Kidman, to get back at his ex-wife Angelina Jolie. But while his sudden support for Kidman is raising eyebrows, insiders spilled to In Touch Weekly that Pitt’s compassion for the Big Little Lies star isn’t something new.

Stating how Brad Pitt and Nicole Kidman used to be good friends during the early 90s, sources claimed that the actress’ association with Tom Cruise is what got in the way. Stating how Pitt had an alleged feud with Cruise, Kidman’s marriage to the latter thus affected her friendship with the Fight Club star.

Sources Blamed Tom Cruise for Ruining Nicole Kidman and Brad Pitt’s Friendship

As per an insider’s report to In Touch Weekly, Brad Pitt and Nicole Kidman had been close friends during the early 90s. So much so that Pitt had originally planned to make Mr. & Mrs. Smith with Kidman. However, things changed as the Moulin Rouge actress left the project and the Troy star had to replace her with Angelina Jolie.

Following this report, sources blamed Tom Cruise for being the reason behind Brad Pitt and Nicole Kidman’s growing distance. Apparently, after Kidman tied the knot with Cruise, she and Pitt grew apart due to the latter’s reported feud with the Top Gun star. It was revealed that their alleged squabble sparked while shooting Interview With The Vampire.

Essentially, Brad was friendly with Nicole 20 years ago when he was preparing to make Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but is only recently reviving their relationship.

I think he would have befriended her much earlier in her career, but Brad made a point of steering clear of Nicole in the nineties because he and Tom Cruise disliked each other so much after making Interview With a Vampire together.

Reportedly butting heads on set throughout the 1994 movie’s production, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise are said to be holding on to past grudges, even to this date. And this alleged feud between them apparently kept Pitt away from being close to Nicole Kidman. But now that Cruise is gone from Kidman’s life, Pitt is once again extending his hand of support and friendship to the actress.

Brad Pitt is Reportedly Supporting Nicole Kidman for Oscar 2025

With Hollywood slowly preparing for Oscar 2025, Brad Pitt made headlines for being a low-key player in the race, following his company Plan B’s role as executive producer of the acclaimed child abuse drama Nickel Boys. But amid his preparation for the Academy Awards, sources told the outlet how Pitt has been fiercely supporting Nicole Kidman and her contending film Babygirl.

According to reports, considering how Angelina Jolie made her Hollywood comeback with Maria and is now aiming for the Oscar, Brad Pitt is reportedly supporting Nicole Kidman to get back at his ex-wife. Allegedly hoping for the coveted award to go to his ex-wife Jennifer Aniston’s pal Kidman, instead of Jolie, Pitt seems to be loving the idea of helping the Eyes Wide Shut actress.

In 2024, Brad has emerged as a real supporter of Nicole for her work in Babygirl and has even attended private industry screenings of the movie with Nicole, where he made no secret of how much he likes the film and her work in it.

This support, which is meaningful to Nicole and her campaign, is really just Brad’s way of getting back at Angelina, who everybody knows is set up to win her first Oscar in 25 years.

Although Angelina Jolie poured her heart and soul into her big comeback film Maria, even trained for seven months to portray the iconic opera singer, Brad Pitt is reportedly campaigning for Nicole Kidman to win instead of his ex-wife.
