Ever since they starred together in 1997’s Titanic, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have had a special place in everyone’s hearts. Not only have their careers skyrocketed since the blockbuster, making them both Oscar winners (Winslet in 2009, and DiCaprio in 2016), but their friendship has also made fans’ hearts skip a beat whenever we see them together.

In a recent screening of Winslet’s new movie, Lee, in which she plays World War II photojournalist Lee Miller, for example, DiCaprio showed just how everlasting their friendship is as he gave a heartfelt tribute to Winslet before introducing her to the crowd.

“Kate, my dear friend. Your work in this film has been nothing short of transformative,” DiCaprio said on stage in a video posted on X.

“I continue to be awestruck,” DiCaprio continued. “I continue to admire your strength, your integrity, your talent and your passion to every single project that you create. Without further ado, one of the great talents of my generation: the one and only Kate Winslet.”

Winslet then walked on stage and gave DiCaprio a sweet peck on the lips and a heartfelt hug. If you ask us, there’s no greater sign of a life-long friendship than showing up for a friend like that!

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen DiCaprio and Winslet gush about each other. “We connected on so many levels,” Winslet told Entertainment Tonight as she looked back at Titanic‘s shooting in 2023 “That sense of focus on the craft and still really caring deeply about that to this day.”

“You know, if you think about it, in the world that we live in now, to have friendships that bind you, and that shared history, it’s really something,” she added.

Winslet echoed those feelings in another interview with PORTER Magazine, suggesting that their sudden rise to fame after Titanic was so extreme, that it bonded them for life. “I think when you experience something so seismic, so young… we really went through that together,” she said.

Truly one of our favorite Hollywood friendships!
