Cornerback Jaylen Watson was able to return to play in the divisional round
Head coach Andy Reid has pointed out two key players that have notable injuries ahead of the big game.
Cornerback Jaylen Watson returned to action for the first time on Saturday since being placed on injured reserve.
He initially fractured his ankle against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7.
“[He] actually came out [of the game] feeling good,” Reid said.
“That’s one of the positives that [we came] out with [about] Jaylen. He was fresh from the injury.
“You hope that he [won’t] have the swelling that was taking place before — and still function at a relatively high speed during the game.
“I thought he did that. I thought he sustained when given that opportunity.”
Watson should be good to go to suit up again for the AFC Championship.
Reid also spoke about wide receiver Mecole Hardman potentially returning to play.
Hardman was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury ahead of the Chiefs’ Week 14 contest against the Los Angeles Chargers.
He was designated to return from IR on January 1, but has yet to see the field.
Hardman would have to be activated by 3 pm on Wednesday in order to play again this season.
If he isn’t, the wide receiver will be forced to sit out the rest of the year.
“We’ll see how that goes here,” Reid said.
“I haven’t made any decisions on that yet. But he’s worked hard to try to get himself back and get going.

The Chiefs have not yet released their injury report for the conference championship week, but they did not have any major injuries during the divisional round.
Every name that appeared on the injury report ahead of that contest against the Houston Texans ended up participating, outside of Hardman.
Patrick Mahomes was listed on the report in the divisional round with an ankle injury, but he played and will play in the AFC Championship.
It is possible that he is listed on the injury report again though.
