The mother-flippin’ D-O double G has been doing everything BUT flipping at the Paris Olympics.

As an NBC “special correspondent” covering the Olympics, he’s tried his hand at fencing, swam with Michael Phelps, and shared a dance moment with gymnasts Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles. The rapper, 52, isn’t doing this just for fun, however — and a recent X (formerly known as Twitter) post has the internet buzzing about how much he’s being paid.

Venture capitalist Henry L. McNamara shared the inside scoop on just how much the “Gin and Juice” artist is allegedly being paid while in France. “Sat next to an NBC exec at dinner, he said Snoop gets paid $500k a day plus expenses to be here promoting Olympics. From ‘Gin and Juice’ to a few million to be a celebrity at the Olympics – what a world,” wrote McNamara.

NBC has not confirmed the amount, but the network’s efforts to get fans excited about the games have paid off – according to The Washington Post, there has been a 79 percent increase in viewership since 2020’s Tokyo games. Snoop Dogg has been involved with the 2024 Olympics from the very beginning, even carrying the torch for a portion of the opening ceremonies. He appeared moved by the significance of the torch when he spoke to NBC.

“It was extraordinary. It was excellent. And I found out that when you hold the torch, you a peace messenger. So I really felt good about that.” That $500,000 per day seems aligned with what a star of Snoop Dogg’s profile might demand – the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” performer has an alleged net worth of $160 million.

The online community have weighed in on Snoop Dogg’s work as an Olympic emissary. Some were concerned that the rapper earned so much money while the athletes themselves earned so little.

“That’s insane,” one X user wrote in response to McNamara’s tweet. “$500K when some athletes can’t even make their rent.”

The majority of the comments, however, seemed to think that the hip-hop icon was earning his keep.

One fan wrote, “@SnoopDogg is worth a million a day! He brings us a lot of joy and we love his message of peace!”

Another chimed in: “Totally worth it- he’s working hard & bringing so much attention to the broadcast/socials.”

Between taking fans on a private tour of the Louvre and horseback riding with his friend Martha Stewart, he appears to be taking full advantage of his NBC gig.
