Lord of the Rings memes are more than a form of entertainment for us here at Memebase. They are actually a lifestyle. That’s why we carefully curate a weekly collection of the silly and often sweetly stupid gems. While many of the Lord of the Rings memes we harvest hail from the dark corners of Reddit, we also spend a lot of time perusing the world of LOTR shitposts on Facebook. It may be a scary website filled with misinformed boomers and married couples with joint accounts, but there are still some groups that are churning out the entertaining memes. My favorite of these groups is Shirefolk – it’s a private group at the moment (like many other large groups, they’re often at risk of deletion), but you can see their brilliant work on Instagram. 

Every so often the meme makers of the group go on a tangent of some kind, creating crossover memes or memes that are basically inside jokes amongst Shirefolk’s members. The most recent phase, to my great delight, was devoted to none other than Willem Dafoe – an amazing actor, and a national treasure. The shitposts definitely live up to their categorization – nonsensical, weird, stupid, and sometimes even funny. The whole world needs a little more Willem Dafoe in it, and these memes are a start.
