Sofronio Vasquez is reminding people exactly why he was crowned the winner of The Voice. During his first-ever headlining show, the season 26 winner wowed the crowd. That was never more true than when he performed an epic cover of Sia’s 2016 song “Unstoppable.”
While on stage at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino in his native Philippines, Vasquez expertly interacted with the crowd as he showed off his powerful vocals. At one point, Vasquez accepted a hat from one audience member, which he wore for the rest of the song.
The audience was clearly charmed by Vasquez’s stage presence and charisma, if the ear-splitting cheers were any indication.
After a video of Vasquez’s performance was shared online, fans took to the comments to praise the showing as “electrifying,” “amazing,” and “dazzling.”
According to local news outlet Cebu Daily News, Vasquez’s concert also featured performances from Hebron Ecal and Chloe Redondo. The outlet reported that Vasquez performed both Original Pilipino Music, such as “Usahay,” and Western tunes including “Unstoppable.”
The concert, the outlet reported, concluded with an emotional rendition of “A Million Dreams.” The song, which Vasquez performed on The Voice, is from the film The Greatest Showman.
Sofronio Vasquez’s Life Since The Voice
The dentist became the first Filipino and Asian to win The Voice when he secured the victory for Team Michael Bublé. Vasquez and runner-up Shye Roberts made Bublé the first Voice coach in history to have the top two acts in their debut season. Bublé was the fourth coach to win the show during their first-ever time in the chair.
Since then, Vasquez hasn’t slowed down.After a press tour, Vasquez returned to The Philippines where he was given a hero’s welcome.
He even met with the President of the Republic of the Philippines. He then appeared on talk shows and vlogs, and even rode on a float during a parade.
Vasquez was also recognized by the Senate of The Philippines, and recently announced that he’ll headline a show in Dubai this May.
“I’m really persistent,” he told Metro.Style. “I was also able to use my being persistent to pursue my dream. Because I was persistent toward my dream. I was persistent about the chance to reach that dream.”
