The key to Keanu Reeves’ relationship with his girlfriend of six years, he said, is “sharing, communicating,” and “supporting” each other

Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant are hitting the road.

The couple, who have been linked since 2019, include motorcycling on their list of favorite date activities, Reeves told E! News in an interview published Monday, Feb. 24.

“We have been on a couple of trips together on the motorcycle and we have enjoyed it,” said the actor, 60, whose upcoming docuseries Visionaries covers trailblazing innovators behind motorcycles and more.

However, “since then, we have not done it again,” the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 star continued, adding that it’s not from lack of interest from Grant, 51. “There’s no declaration of like, ‘I’m never riding with you again because you’re crazy,’ ” Reeves told the outlet.

Asked about the keys to his strong relationship with his girlfriend of six years, Reeves’ answer was simple: “Sharing, communicating, you know, supporting.” As for whether Grant would be the faster rider on a motorcycle, he responded, “I would imagine, yeah.”

While they keep their romance private, Reeves and Grant have appeared on red carpets together for arts galas, some honoring Grant’s work as a visual artist. More adventurous dates have included waving the checkered flag at the MotoGP race in Germany last July.

“They both work hard and then enjoy life together,” a source told PEOPLE last April. “They’re very much a normal couple… They’re both homebodies. They’d much rather entertain at home.”

That insider also said that Reeves’ longtime love of riding motorcycles is a hobby Grant has “never minded.” “Keanu still has his custom motorcycle company, ARCH. Motorcycles are a huge part of his life.”

In 2023, Grant called her relationship “interdependent and independent in the best ways” in an interview with PEOPLE. “The good news about falling in love as an adult is that I had built my own career by the time that my relationship had begun,” she said at the time. “I feel very confident in the relationship on the red carpet. I feel confident on it alone.”

Visionaries, executive produced by Reeves and his ARCH co-founder Gard Hollinger, premieres on Roku on March 7. Other upcoming projects from the actor are John Wick spinoff Ballerina starring Ana de Armas (in theaters June 6) and comedy Good Fortune starring Aziz Ansari (in theaters Oct. 17).
