“I know that they’ve opened a writer’s room for Season 2, which is always a good sign,” Schumacher told MovieWeb. “I hound April and the other writers for any sort of information that they can give me. And every so often, they’ll spill a little bit of info. But I think they’re also wise to say no. They’re like, ‘No, because then you’re going to get married to this idea. And these things change…’ Everything that, you know, they’re coming up with right now is in its infancy. So yeah, I mean, I’m excited very much at the prospect of a Season 2.”
Co-Starring With James Brolin in ‘Ransom Canyon’
Among Schumacher’s acclaimed co-stars in Ransom Canyon is seasoned veteran James Brolin (of the original Westworld), who plays a local with juicy ties to Schumacher’s character, Yancy. Viewers will have to continue on after the pilot episode if they want to discover these intriguing plot developments. “James does like a million different things, and he makes all these great choices. So I was constantly surprised by him,” Schumacher told us, adding:
“I think there are times where I see myself — like, when they cut to my reaction to something that he does — and I’m like, ‘Oh!’ That was just me reacting to it…’ I remember, like, he walked into a room and he did something, and it’s great because it works for his performance and mine. But yeah, it’s such an amazing cast.”
Schumacher also shares some equally juicy scenes with Irish actor Eoin Macken (La Brea) throughout the series. Macken plays another local in town, often butting heads with lead character Staten (Josh Duhamel) and trying to secure his own control of the land through whatever means necessary. “He’s so much fun to watch act, and he walks that fine line between being expressive and physical, and still keeping it very grounded,” Schumacher said of co-star Macken. “It’s difficult to hone in and have that be part of an authentic performance because, you know, you see actors sometimes take it too far, or they’re flat. And Eoin, I think, walks that line very well… I loved working with him, and I just love hanging out with the guy.”
