Netflix’s #1 Crime Saga Just Got Knocked Off the Throne — After 4 Weeks of Total Domination 🔥📉
It was the streaming giant’s most addictive coastal thriller — filled with power struggles, buried secrets, and a finale that had fans wide-eyed at 2AM.
But after four record-breaking weeks at the top, a dark new contender just swept in and stole the crown.
👀 What series had the nerve to dethrone this juggernaut? And will it hold on? Tap in to find out what everyone’s watching now.

Netflix’s new replacement for Ozark, The Waterfront, maintained an impressive streak of topping the streamer’s top 10 English-language shows ranking for three weeks before finally dropping down to number 2 in the fourth week of its run.
Unlike most shows that experience a gradual decline going into its second week, The Waterfront only rose further by rising from 8.3 million views to 11.6 million. Although it fell to 5.6 million in its third week, it remained the number one English-language show on Netflix. In its fourth week, however, The Waterfront has finally been replaced by The Sandman season 2.
What The Waterfront’s Fall In Viewership Rankings Means For The Netflix Show
The Show Has Still Had A Solid Run

Despite finally going down to number 2 in Netflix’s global ranking of top 10 English-language shows, The Waterfront has undoubtedly proven to be commercially successful for the streamer with massive viewership numbers. Surprisingly, despite this, the show has not yet been greenlit for another season by Netflix.
However, since Netflix’s decision to continue or end a show is often driven by several viewership metrics rather than purely critical reception, The Waterfront season 2 could still happen. While only time will tell what the future holds for the crime drama, it could become Netflix’s new Ozark replacement if it manages to return and improve its storytelling in future potential seasons.
Our Take On The Waterfront’s Viewership Decline
It’s Natural For A Show To Gradually Fall With Time

Since it is natural for a show to experience a gradual decline in viewership with time and be replaced with newer releases, there is nothing unusual about The Waterfront‘s fall to number 2 in Netflix’s global ranking of top 10 English-language shows. The fact that it stayed at the number 1 spot for three weeks before The Sandman season 2 dethroned it proves it has resonated with many viewers.
Despite being compared to shows like Bloodline and Ozark, The Waterfront has yet to leave its mark in the crime drama genre and etch its own solid identity. It may not rank among the genre’s best additions from recent years, but its viewership establishes its potential to grow into a more memorable series if it returns with more installments.
