Netflix subscribers cannot get enough of Sullivan’s Crossing. The romantic drama series has managed to become a bigger streaming hit, at least temporarily, than Squid Game.

Per FlixPatrol, as of July 10, Sullivan’s Crossing has knocked the Netflix original Squad Game out of the No. 1 spot on the streamer’s Top 10 TV Shows in the United States list. This is an impressive feat for The CW drama series, whose first two seasons were only added to Netflix two days ago on July 8. After debuting at the No. 2 spot yesterday, Sullivan’s Crossing is now the No. 1 show on Netflix in the United States. With Squid Game having dominated the top spot since the release of its third and final season on June 27, it remains to be seen whether Sullivan’s Crossing‘s time at No. 1 will be short-lived or if this is the start of a new streaming reign.

Created by Roma Roth and based on the novel series of the same name by Robyn Carr, Sullivan’s Crossing follows neurosurgeon Maggie Sullivan, played by Morgan Kohah, whose successful career is upended when she finds herself in legal trouble, leading her to return to her rural hometown of Timberlake, Nova Scotia, to reconnect with her estranged father, Sully, played by Gilmore Girls alum Scott Patterson. Former teen heartthrob Chad Michael Murray co-stars as California “Cal” Jones, with Tom Jackson and Andrea Menard rounding out the main cast of Sullivan’s Crossing.

Sullivan’s Crossing Is a Co-Production With CTV

Sullivan’s Crossing is produced by Reel World Management in collaboration with Bell Media and Fremantle for the Canadian network CTV. Beginning with its second season, The CW joined as a co-producer on Sullivan’s Crossing, acquiring the American broadcasting rights for the romantic drama series in the process. While The CW originally developed its own scripted series, such as the beloved Arrowverse and long-running Supernatural, in recent years, the network has shifted to licensed content and/or co-productions, such as Sullivan’s Crossing. The only fully original series left on The CW is All American, which was renewed for an eighth and final season last month. Sullivan’s Crossing is one of two popular romantic drama series based on the works of Carr that is currently finding success on streaming. The other, the Netflix original Virgin River, has been a consistent performer for the streamer, leading to an early Season 8 renewal. This recent renewal makes Virgin River the longest-running scripted original series on Netflix, an impressive feat considering that the streamer has become known for canceling its shows after just a single season (no matter how well they performed).

The first two seasons of Sullivan’s Crossing are currently streaming on Netflix. A fourth season of the romantic drama has been ordered by CTV, although it’s unclear at this time if The CW will also return as a co-producer and American broadcaster for Sullivan’s Crossing.
