Liverpool will face La Liga outfit Athletic Club at Anfield on Monday

Supporters attending Liverpool’s pre-season friendly double-header against Athletic Club next week have been issued a weather warning as Storm Floris is set to hit the United Kingdom. After returning from a pre-season tour of the Far East earlier this week, the Reds will entertain the La Liga outfit in back-to-back games at Anfield on Monday night.
The first game between the two sides is scheduled to kick off at 5pm on August 4, with the second and final game of the night slated for a start time of 8pm.
It means supporters who are attending the sell-out clash at Anfield could be impacted by Storm Floris, with winds expected to reach between 40-50mph in some regions.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind from 6am on Monday until 6am on Tuesday.
It is also expected that heavy rain will accompany the winds that hit the north-west region.
Matthew Lehnert, Met Office Chief Meteorologist, said: “Across the warning area, many inland areas are likely to see gusts of 40-50mph, with 60-70mph more likely at higher elevations and around exposed coasts in Scotland.
“There is a small chance that some locations here could even record gusts of 85mph.”
Monday’s games at Anfield will offer Reds supporters a first glimpse of some of the seven summer signings the Premier League champions have added to their ranks this summer, including Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
After facing Athletic Club on home soil, next up for Arne Slot’s side will be a trip to Wembley on August 10 to face Crystal Palace in the Community Shield.
Liverpool will then begin their defence of the Premier League crown at home to Bournemouth on Friday, August 17.
