🚹 MYSTERY REVEALED: Knives Out 3 locks in its THEATRICAL RELEASE DATE, but the bigger HOOK is when it finally drops on Netflix đŸ”„đŸ” Fans are bracing for another mind-bending case as Benoit Blanc returns with secrets deadlier than ever

Daniel Craig in Knives Out 3-1

Benoit Blanc is back on the case in the highly anticipated third installment of the Knives Out film series. Titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the sequel finds our favorite quick-witted detective (Daniel Craig) and his infectious Southern drawl embroiled in yet another dangerous case, with yet another colorful group of suspects. Now, impatient fans finally know when they’ll have their chance to see Blanc’s grand comeback on the big screen, because Netflix has just revealed the film’s theatrical release date.

According to Variety, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is set to have a two-week theatrical run before making its arrival on the streaming service. Per the publication, the third Knives Out film is scheduled to premiere in select theaters on November 26, 2025. Knives Out 3‘s limited rollout might excite some viewers eager for it to make its way to Netflix, but the film’s director and co-producer, Rian Johnson, is presumably less enthused by the short theatrical window.

Earlier this year, Johnson told Business Insider that he wanted the new installment to be shown in theaters “for as long as possible” before it becomes available on Netflix. Pushing back after Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos called the traditional movie theater release “outdated,” Johnson expressed his desire for Wake Up Dead Man to have an extended theatrical release, saying, “We’re going to push for everything we can get in terms of theatrical, because I want as many people as possible to see it in that form.”

The first Knives Out movie was released in theaters in November 2019, introducing Blanc after he’s hired to investigate the presumed murder of bestselling crime novelist Harlan Thrombey. Everyone in the Thrombey family is a suspect, and joined by Harlan’s nurse, Marta (Ana de Armas), Blanc works to uncover the killer’s identity before they can strike again. The second film in the franchise, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, had a one-week theatrical release (grossing $13 million at the box office) from November 23 to November 29, 2022, before the film became available to stream on Netflix on December 23, 2022. In Glass Onion, Blanc is invited to a secluded island by tech billionaire Miles Bron, where, one by one, the guests start to die, and Blanc puts his investigative skills to the test in a race against the clock.

But the big question is: When is Knives Out 3 premiering on Netflix? On September 2, the streamer released a brand-new movie poster for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery across its various social media accounts. In the poster, Blanc can be seen looking down into an open grave while a slew of suspects joins him. The caption reveals a special surprise, reading, “Not all secrets can stay buried. WAKE UP DEAD MAN: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY arrives December 12.” See the official poster below.

Similar to the previous Knives Out films, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will feature a star-studded cast, including Josh O’Connor (Challengers), Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction), Josh Brolin (Dune), Mila Kunis (Black Swan, That ‘70s Show), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Town), Kerry Washington (Scandal), Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers), Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), Daryl McCormack (Peaky Blinders) and Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3). The official synopsis reads:

“Benoit Blanc (Craig) returns for his most dangerous case yet in the third and darkest chapter of Rian Johnson’s murder mystery opus. When young priest Jud Duplenticy (O’Connor) is sent to assist charismatic firebrand Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Brolin), it’s clear that all is not well in the pews. Wicks’s modest-but-devoted flock includes devout church lady Martha Delacroix (Close), circumspect groundskeeper Samson Holt (Haden Church), tightly-wound lawyer Vera Draven (Washington), aspiring politician Cy Draven (McCormack), town doctor Nat Sharp (Renner), best-selling author Lee Ross (Scott), and concert cellist Simone Vivane (Spaeny). After a sudden and seemingly impossible murder rocks the town, the lack of an obvious suspect prompts local police chief Geraldine Scott (Kunis) to join forces with renowned detective Benoit Blanc to unravel a mystery that defies all logic.”

Be sure to mark your calendars: Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery premieres in theaters on November 23, 2025, and arrives on Netflix on December 12, 2025.
