Wednesday and Morticia don’t see eye-to-eye when it comes to Wednesday’s psychic powers, but that makes sense based on what Morticia experienced with Ophelia. The sister serves as a warning for Wednesday throughout the second season. However, the situation may be more dire than it seems after Ophelia finally appears at the end of Wednesday season 2, part 2.
Ophelia Has Been Missing For 20 Years After Experiencing Similar Psychic Symptoms To Wednesday In Season 2

As far as Morticia is concerned, Ophelia has been missing for the past 20 years. Before her disappearance, she also experienced similar issues with her Raven powers, including the side effect of black tears when overusing the psychic ability. Morticia told Wednesday that it got so bad that the side effects of using her powers drove her sister to madness.
Wednesday Season 2’s Finale Reveals Ophelia Is Alive & Locked In Grandmama’s Basement

Ophelia feels like a bad omen throughout Wednesday season 2, rather than a character. She’s presented as the worst-case-scenario of what could happen to Wednesday Addams. However, Wednesday season 2, part 2’s final moments reveal Ophelia’s fate. She’s very much alive and locked in Grandmama’s basement, which seems extremely cruel for a mother to do to her daughter.
What Ophelia Frump’s Fate Means For Wednesday Season 3

When Wednesday season 3 was confirmed, the co-creator and co-showrunner stated that the third season would reveal more Addams Family secrets. Since the announcement came before season 2’s release, it wasn’t clear what secrets they could be alluding to. However, it’s clear after Wednesday‘s season 2, part 2’s finale, that the secrets will be connected to Ophelia Frump and Grandmama.
As Wednesday seasons 1 and 2 both leaned into flashbacks, it’s probable the third season will include flashbacks of Ophelia’s spiral into insanity and the events leading up to her captivity in Grandmama’s basement. The show will need to provide answers about why she’s become homicidal.
Wednesday season 3 could also bring the eponymous goth teen face-to-face with her Raven aunt, who is, seemingly, out to kill her. Considering Wednesday Addams has heard so much about her aunt, it will be interesting to see how she feels about Ophelia Frump when finally meeting her.
