BIG HOOK: Knives Out 3 has locked in its theatrical release date — but the real suspense is WHEN it will finally hit Netflix. 🍿🔥
The mystery isn’t just on screen this time. With Rian Johnson back at the helm and Daniel Craig returning as Benoit Blanc, fans are counting down to answers both in the plot and on the release calendar. ⏳✨

According to Variety, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery is set to have a two-week theatrical run before making its arrival on the streaming service. Per the publication, the third Knives Out film is scheduled to premiere in select theaters on November 26, 2025. Knives Out 3‘s limited rollout might excite some viewers eager for it to make its way to Netflix, but the film’s director and co-producer, Rian Johnson, is presumably less enthused by the short theatrical window.
Earlier this year, Johnson told Business Insider that he wanted the new installment to be shown in theaters “for as long as possible” before it becomes available on Netflix. Pushing back after Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos called the traditional movie theater release “outdated,” Johnson expressed his desire for Wake Up Dead Man to have an extended theatrical release, saying, “We’re going to push for everything we can get in terms of theatrical, because I want as many people as possible to see it in that form.”
But the big question is: When is Knives Out 3 premiering on Netflix? On September 2, the streamer released a brand-new movie poster for Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery across its various social media accounts. In the poster, Blanc can be seen looking down into an open grave while a slew of suspects joins him. The caption reveals a special surprise, reading, “Not all secrets can stay buried. WAKE UP DEAD MAN: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY arrives December 12.” See the official poster below.
Who’s Starring Alongside Daniel Craig in ‘Knives Out 3’?
Similar to the previous Knives Out films, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will feature a star-studded cast, including Josh O’Connor (Challengers), Glenn Close (Fatal Attraction), Josh Brolin (Dune), Mila Kunis (Black Swan, That ‘70s Show), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Town), Kerry Washington (Scandal), Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers), Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), Daryl McCormack (Peaky Blinders) and Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3). The official synopsis reads:
“Benoit Blanc (Craig) returns for his most dangerous case yet in the third and darkest chapter of Rian Johnson’s murder mystery opus. When young priest Jud Duplenticy (O’Connor) is sent to assist charismatic firebrand Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Brolin), it’s clear that all is not well in the pews. Wicks’s modest-but-devoted flock includes devout church lady Martha Delacroix (Close), circumspect groundskeeper Samson Holt (Haden Church), tightly-wound lawyer Vera Draven (Washington), aspiring politician Cy Draven (McCormack), town doctor Nat Sharp (Renner), best-selling author Lee Ross (Scott), and concert cellist Simone Vivane (Spaeny). After a sudden and seemingly impossible murder rocks the town, the lack of an obvious suspect prompts local police chief Geraldine Scott (Kunis) to join forces with renowned detective Benoit Blanc to unravel a mystery that defies all logic.”
Be sure to mark your calendars: Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery premieres in theaters on November 23, 2025, and arrives on Netflix on December 12, 2025.
