Thanks to a production update, we’ve recently learned that Kyle Turner is trading in the Yosemite National Park for the paradise of Hawaii in the upcoming second season of Untamed! Filming is scheduled to get underway in February 2026. Here’s what we know so far about Untamed season 2 on Netflix.

Untamed is a Netflix Original crime drama series co-created by Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith. One of July 2025’s most popular releases, Untamed has already proven to be one of Netflix’s best new shows of 2025 and has earned an order for a second season, despite debuting as a limited series.

In fact, compared to other limited series that debuted on Netflix in 2025, the series is only defeated by the multi-Emmy award-winning series Adolescence.

The series stars Eric Bana as Kyle Turner, a federal agent of the National Park Service, who investigates the mysterious death of a woman in the vast expanse of California’s Yosemite National Park.

What can we expect from Untamed season 2?

The biggest change we’ll see in Untamed season 2 is the location. Moving on from the mountains of the Yosemite National Park, Kyle Turner will be heading to one of the national parks of Hawaii, where a brand new, challenging case awaits him.

Thanks to an extensive TUDUM interview with series co-creators Mark L. Smith and Elle Smith, we’ve known for months about the plans to find Kyle Turner a new challenge in an exciting new location.

“We’ve done Yosemite. What’s the next park that could feel different from that? Each national park has such a different cultural identity, geographical identity. Being able to explore those places through the case and through Turner’s journey is what’s so fascinating.

Our theme has been that this park is our main character this park is sort of alive. We do want to maintain that thread. Whichever park we choose will be a character, and it will kind of play a role in Turner’s emotional frame of mind.”

This next season will take Kyle Turner into an unfamiliar environment, where he will have been to several other National Parks, taking on numerous cases, before landing in Hawaii.

“This won’t be the first park he’s been in since Yosemite. He’s been to a lot of parks. He’s been busy, taking on a lot of cases. This will be the latest and it’ll be more impactful for him.

Turner was so comfortable in Yosemite. He was the one leading this charge, and people followed him. And now, [we’re] putting Kyle on his back foot, making him very uncomfortable … This time we get to follow Turner into a park and let him lead us, and we stumble along with him as he’s kind of finding his way.

We’re going to make sure we populate it with characters that are interesting and help him in ways both good and bad.” 

Who are the cast members of Untamed season 2?

With such a radical change in location coming, we expect Eric Bana to be the only cast member to reprise their role from the first season. With the season moving to Hawaii, we would expect a diverse cast of native Hawaiian and Polynesian actors.

For now, we wait to learn more about the cast.

What is the production status of Untamed season 2?

In issue 1475 of Production Weekly, it was reported that filming for the second season of Untamed will begin on February 17, 2026. Filming will last just under 4 months and conclude by June 1, 2026.

However, the most important reveal from the report is that the second season will trade the hills and mountains of Yosemite National Park for the paradise of Hawaii. Where in Hawaii, or which national park, filming will take place has yet to be revealed, but there are several possible locations, even dangerous ones, that could feature!
