Warning: Spoiler ahead for Emily in Paris Season 5.
Emily in Paris returned with new episodes on Netflix this week, bringing back the trendy American expat who has found herself in more than her fair share of love triangles abroad. In Season 5, Emily says bonjour to Paris and ciao to Rome, entering a new relationship, working from a new office location and serving up an even more fashionable lineup of looks for the Eternal City.
Throughout the 10-episode season, which dropped in its entirety on Dec. 18, Emily navigates a relationship with her handsome on-again, off-again Italian beau, Marcello Muratori, whose family’s luxury fashion house, Muratori, is also a client of Agence Grateau. Emily has also taken on the role of overseeing Agence Grateau’s Rome office — at least until the rest of her team relocates, too.
While things in Rome initially seem to be going well for Emily and Marcello, thanks in part to her quick thinking with the Muratori account, the honeymoon phase doesn’t last long. Midway through the season, Emily breaks up with Marcello after learning he’s been secretly meeting with the company’s rival, JVMA. At the same time, Agence Grateau’s other Roman clients jump ship, prompting the team to return to Paris to tend to the neglected Parisian clients they still have.
