Greg Biffle’s wife and kids were some of his biggest supporters before their tragic deaths in December 2025.

The NASCAR driver — who began his professional racing career in 1995 and went on to win several championships — was a father of two. He shared daughter Emma with ex-wife Nicole Lunders and son Ryder with wife Cristina Grossu Biffle, whom he married in December 2022.

On Dec. 18, Greg, Cristina, Emma and Ryder were killed in a plane crash in North Carolina. Rep. Richard Hudson, who is also a family friend, confirmed the news on X, writing, “I am devastated by the loss of Greg, Cristina, and their children, and my heart is with all who loved them.”

Shortly after, the Biffle and Grossu families released a joint statement with those of the other victims, writing that Greg and Cristina were “devoted parents and active philanthropists whose lives were centered around their young son Ryder and Greg’s daughter Emma.”

“Emma was a wonderful human being with a kind soul who was loved by many people,” the statement continued. “Ryder was an active, curious and infinitely joyful child.”

The pair got married on Dec. 31, 2022, per a video she shared on her Instagram. “I couldn’t have asked for a better day with our friends and family,” Cristina captioned the post.

Cristina worked as a realtor, CEO of a ring replica company and a luxury travel agent, per her Instagram bio.

She received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Southern California and her master’s degree in business administration and management from Purdue University, per her LinkedIn.

After graduating from Purdue, Cristina celebrated the milestone in an October 2022 Instagram post.

“For the last year, I’ve worked late nights writing papers and achieving a bucket list accomplishment, ontop of raising a wild toddler and starting a new company while maintaining a successful real estate career,” she wrote. “I was able to take extra courses in order to finish in just 12 months 💪🏼 It’s never too late to go after your dreams!”

Greg became a dad in July 2011, when he and his ex-wife Lunders welcomed daughter Emma.

In June 2014, the NASCAR champion spoke to USA Today about balancing parenthood with his career, noting that Emma “comes every week” to support him. He also shared that he and his ex-wife learned valuable lessons from fellow NASCAR families along the way.

“The first one through has to pave the way. I can remember Nicole calling Katie [Kenseth, Matt Kenseth’s wife] twice a day. You learn a lot from each other, from baby cameras to seats. We’re all similar so a lot of what works for them works for us.”

In February 2020, Greg wrote on his Instagram that Emma was going to “be a big sister,” as he and Cristina were expecting their first child together.

Ryder Jack was born on Sept. 9, 2020, with Cristina announcing the news of his birth on Instagram a few days later.

In February 2022, Greg shared an Instagram photo with Cristina and his kids at the Daytona International Speedway, writing, “So grateful to have my family by my side for the start of the 64th Annual Daytona 500.”

More recently, Greg’s wife and kids were by his side when he was inducted into the North Carolina Auto Racing Hall of Fame in September 2025, as he shared on his Instagram.

Greg also enjoyed life with his kids away from the race track, including father-daughter dances with Emma and fishing trips with Ryder.

On Dec. 18, Greg, Cristina, Emma and Ryder were among seven people killed in a North Carolina plane crash.

According to the Associated Press, they were traveling aboard a Cessna C550 that crashed while attempting to land in foggy weather at Statesville Regional Airport in Statesville at around 10:15 a.m.

WSOC reported that the plane was owned by Greg through GB Aviation Leasing, and his friend Garrett Mitchell confirmed on Facebook that the family was on the business jet on their way to Florida.

“Unfortunately, I can confirm Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, and son Ryder were on that plane,” Mitchell wrote on Facebook. “Because they were on their way to spend the afternoon with us. We are devastated. I’m so sorry to share this.”
