Taylor Sheridan Fans Hit With Huge Blow Ahead of ā€˜Landman’ Creator’s Paramount Exit

Taylor SheridanĀ fans are officially in theirĀ stress era. Just asĀ LandmanĀ continues to dominate conversation and Paramount+ keeps leaning hard intoĀ the Sheridan-verse, the studio behind it all has confirmed two pieces of news that — taken together — sting a little more than expected:Ā Paramount+ is raising prices in January 2026, andĀ Sheridan is still on track to leave the studio entirely once his deal expires.

Let’s start with the money part. UnderĀ David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance, the company is planning to spendĀ moreĀ on content — but it’s also askingĀ subscribers to pay up for it. In its Q3 2025 earnings report, Paramount confirmed U.S. price increases will kick in onĀ January 15, 2026. The ad-supportedĀ Paramount+ EssentialĀ plan will rise by $1 toĀ $8.99/month, whileĀ Paramount+ PremiumĀ (ad-free) jumps toĀ $13.99/month. Annual plans are also climbing sharply, with Essential moving toĀ $89.99/yearĀ and Premium toĀ $139.99/year.

Ellison framed the hikes as necessary fuel for bigger ambitions. ā€œThese changes will fuel continued reinvestment in the user experience and deliver an even stronger slate of programming,ā€ he said in his letter to shareholders. And to be fair, Paramount+ isn’t exactly sitting on its hands. The streamer just locked in aĀ seven-year, $7.7 billion UFC deal, aĀ five-year, $1.5 billion pact with Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and is ramping its film slate up toĀ 15 movies a year.Ā South ParkĀ alone was the platform’s top subscriber-acquisition driver in Q3.

ButĀ here’s where things get complicated for Sheridan fans.Ā Yes,Ā Taylor Sheridan is leaving Paramount — just not yet.Ā His current deal runs throughĀ 2028, meaning shows likeĀ Landman,Ā Tulsa King, and other in-progress projects are safe for now. However, starting inĀ 2029, Sheridan will officially shift his creative empire toĀ NBCUniversal, with his production companyĀ 101 StudiosĀ moving over via a first-look deal that begins in 2026.

Reports suggest the split comes down toĀ creative control andĀ strained relationships with new Paramount leadership, withĀ NBCUniversal offering Sheridan more freedom — and likely a bigger paycheck. Translation: Paramount gets a few more years of Sheridan hits, butĀ the long-term future of the Sheridan-verse is already pointed elsewhere.
