FBI Breaks Silence With Concerning Nancy Guthrie Update After Alleged Ransom Deadline
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation issued separate statements on the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
The former addressed a flurry of police activity at the home of Guthrie’s daughter Annie and her husband Tommaso Cioni over the weekend, revealing that activity will continue through Monday night and into Tuesday.
“Many of you observed an active law enforcement presence at the Guthrie residences over the weekend. That activity will continue tonight and into tomorrow as part of the ongoing investigative process, including the expansion of the search and follow-up on new leads,” the message read. “This is all part of the investigative process, as the search for Nancy expands and new leads come in. To preserve the integrity of this criminal investigation, details of that process are not being released at this time.”

FBI Offers Concerning Update
After a week investigating the case the Federal Bureau of Investigation admitted it has not identified a suspect or person of interest in the case.
“For more than a week, FBI agents, analysts, and professional staff have worked around the clock to reunite Nancy Guthrie with her family. The FBI is not aware of any continued communication between the Guthrie family and suspected kidnappers, nor have we identified a suspect or person of interest in this case at this time,” a statement from the FBI read.
“Additional personnel from FBI field offices across the nation continue to deploy to Tucson. We are currently operating a 24-hour command post that includes crisis management experts, analytic support, and investigative teams. But we still need the public’s help. Someone has that one piece of information that can help us bring Nancy home. We need that person to share what they know. Please call us at 1-800-CALL-FBI.”
Savannah Guthrie, Family Issue Plea: ‘We Will Pay’
Today host Savannah Guthrie and her siblings Camron and Annie previously addressed the alleged kidnapper(s) making it clear they would pay the alleged ransom, which has been reported as two separate payments, one of $4 million and another of $6 million.
“We received your message and we understand,” she said. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”
A reported deadline was set for earlier Monday afternoon, though the FBI’s message suggests it was not paid as the Guthrie’s had “no contact” with the alleged suspect(s).
