Rio Rico woman claims son-in-law detained in disappearance of Nancy Guthrie
RIO RICO, Ariz. (KVOA) – A homeowner in Rio Rico is speaking out after she said authorities conducted a search of their home in connection to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
The homeowner, Josefina Maddox, claims the search was based on a tip that Guthrie was at the residence.
According to a CNN report, the homeowner expressed confusion and frustration over the situation. The homeowner allowed the search, stating there was “nothing to hide” in the house. She also stated that she doesn’t know who Nancy Guthrie is and doesn’t know anything about the 84-year-old.
The homeowner mentioned that her son-in-law Carlos was being investigated. “They’re investigating my son-in-law. He’s not have nothing to do with that either,” the homeowner said.
Nancy was last seen on around 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, and was reported missing the following day after she did not show up for church.
Those who may have information regarding the investigation are urged to contact PCSD at 520-351-4900 or call 9-1-1. Tips can be sent to the FBI by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information that can lead to an arrest regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.

Nancy Guthrie is described as 5 foot 5 inches tall, 150 pounds, has brown hair, and has blue eyes. We are told that Nancy Guthrie is in frail health and is without the daily medications she needs to survive. Nanos confirmed the 84-year-old lived alone.
88-CRIME is offering a reward up to $2,500 is being offered for any information that can lead to an arrest or arrests in Guthrie’s disappearance. Anyone with a tip can contact 88-CRIME at 520-882-7463, where they can remain anonymous.
