In the days that followed, a chilling $10 million “ransom video” surfaced, fuelling suspicions of Russian involvement.
Forensic experts estimate the dismembered remains found are around three days old.
However, there has been no official confirmation the body parts belong to Komarov.
DNA tests are now underway, with Bali Police working alongside the Ukrainian consulate.

POLICE hunting for a missing Ukrainian man in Bali have arrested a suspect after human remains were discovered.
Igor Komarov was allegedly abducted on February 15 while holidaying on the Indonesian island.
Officers have taken a DNA sample from Komarov’s mother for comparison.
Six additional suspects linked to the alleged kidnapping have reportedly gone to ground.
Police released their initials – RM, BK, AS, VN, SM and DH – and believe they are part of a “transnational criminal network”.
The group is also said to include a unit from Russia’s Chechnya region.
The prime suspect, identified only as “CH”, was detained in West Nusa Tenggara after allegedly using a false passport to rent vehicles used in the kidnapping.
Police believe a black Toyota and two motorcycles were involved in snatching Komarov.

Komarov was on holiday with his Ukrainian influencer girlfriend at the time

Authorities believe her posts on Instagram may have given away his location to kidnappers
Investigators say four suspects fled via Bali’s international airport, while two are thought to remain on the island.
An operation orchestrated by Interpol is now underway to locate them.
Komarov had been traveling with his girlfriend, Ukrainian influencer Yea Mishalova.
Authorities believe images she shared on social media during the trip may have inadvertently revealed their location.
Police were first alerted to the alleged attack by a friend who reportedly managed to escape.
CCTV footage and GPS data later led investigators to a villa in Tabanan, where officers discovered bloodstains matching those found inside one of the rented vehicles.
Detectives believe Komarov was held against his will and assaulted at the property.
In the disturbing ransom footage, Komarov appears battered and bruised as he reads from a prepared statement.
Pleading with his mother to hand over the money, he says: “Mum, Mum – I beg you, please help me.
“We stole those $10 million they’re asking you for.
“Give them back those $10 million. Please.”
He continues: “They’ve already chopped off some of my limbs.
“My legs are already broken, my ribs are broken, my rib cage is punctured.”
Komarov has been described by local outlets as the son of a Kramatorsk crime figure nicknamed “Komar”.
The friend who escaped has been named as Alexander “Yermak” Petrovsky, reportedly the son of a Dnipro-based crime boss known as “Narik”.
Authorities have not yet formally confirmed the identity of the remains as investigations continue.

An Interpol operation is now underway
