Mel and Jack’s ‘Dumb’ Wedding Move on Virgin River Sparks Furious Fans – Here’s Why!

Virgin River fans were left fuming at the couple’s wedding guest list.

Virgin River enthusiasts are still reeling from the shocking finale of the show’s sixth season on Netflix, with one particular twist leaving fans utterly baffled.

In the most recent chapter of the hit rural romance series, viewers finally witnessed Mel Monroe (portrayed by Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) exchange vows in a picturesque ceremony that saw the whole town come together.

But the newlyweds’ joy was short-lived when Jack noticed his ex-fling Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) was conspicuously absent from the festivities.

His concern led him to her home, only to find it in disarray and himself stunned by an off-screen revelation the details of which are set to be unveiled in the upcoming seventh season.

Some viewers were surprised Charmaine was invited to the wedding

While the season was packed with drama, including the ongoing storyline between Brie (Zibby Allen) and Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth), it’s Jack’s complicated history with Charmaine that has some fans up in arms, reports the Mirror US.

A perplexed fan recently vented on Reddit about the decision to invite Charmaine to the wedding at all.

“Why is Charmaine even invited to the wedding?” they questioned in their post. “Sorry if this has already been posted but I cannot understand why she’s invited to their wedding after everything?!

“Haha like in what world would a bride invite her fiancé’s ex who just recently lied for 9 months about being pregnant with his twins?! Not to mention how nasty she was. Lol only in Virgin River.”

Jack and Charmaine may have reached a truce to remain cordial, but their friendship is off the cards after her ploy to pin the paternity of her twins on him.

Some fans were left gobsmacked that not only was Charmaine at the wedding, but she was also poised for a major role in getting everyone ready before her sudden absence.

One fan pointed out, “Let’s not forget, she asked Charmaine to do everyone’s hair. I guess attending the wedding was her bonus.”

Another viewer fired back, saying, “This was the dumbest thing ever! Like why would I want my fiancé’s ex girl be in my head doing my hair for my wedding day?

“The same woman that accused me of stealing Jack, the same woman who lied about having my man’s babies! Mel had plenty of money to hire someone for that.”

Echoing this sentiment, another fan noted: “Charmaine spent every waking moment trying to torment Mel and make Jack feel guilty. Someone thought, ‘Let’s include Char in the wedding!'”

An exasperated comment read, “Right after she lied to Jack and Mel and used Jack???? Why do they even talk to her?”

Despite the drama, some point out everyone in town seemed to get an invite to the wedding of the season, thanks to mayor Hope McCrea’s (Annette O’Toole) declaration.

“I think it’s one of those situations where in small town/rural areas there may be people you don’t like, but you can’t avoid running into them, so you are polite,” suggested one observer. “Inviting everyone else and not her would have been rude.”

As fans eagerly anticipate the next chapter, they’re once again left to bide their time until Virgin River season seven begins, leaving everyone to ponder over Charmaine’s destiny. The question on every subscriber’s mind: will she and her twins emerge unscathed, or is her storyline heading towards a dark end?

Virgin River season 6 is available to stream on Netflix.
