Both Sting and Jennifer Hudson are set to appear on “The Voice” Season 26 as mega mentors.
This marks the first time that there have been two mega mentors on “The Voice” in a single season. Sting will join coaches Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani, while Hudson will join Michael Bublé and Reba McEntire. The role marks a return to “The Voice” for Hudson, as she was previously a coach on Seasons 13 and 15 of the NBC competition series.
The announcement comes as the teams prepare for the three-way Knockouts beginning on Nov. 11. This time, the artists are paired against two other teammates but they will select their own songs to perform individually while their direct competitors watch and wait.
Hudson is an EGOT winner and one of the most celebrated singers of her time. Most recently, she released the holiday album “The Gift of Love” on Oct. 18. She also launched the third season of her nationally syndicated talk show, “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” in September.
Sting has sold over 100 million albums from his combined work with the Police and as a solo artist. He has won 17 Grammys, two Brits, a Golden Globe, an Emmy, four Oscar nominations, a Tony nomination, Billboard magazine’s Century Award and MusiCares 2004 Person of the Year. He is a member of both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame, and has received the Kennedy Center Honors, American Music Award of Merit, and Polar Music Prize.
“The Voice” is a presentation of MGM Television, Warner Bros. Unscripted Television in association with Warner Horizon, and ITV Studios The Voice USA, Inc. The series was created by John de Mol, who serves as an executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Amanda Zucker, Kyra Thompson, Adam H. Sher and Barry Poznick.
