Dive into the Automotive Cinematic World: Pixar’s Cars 3 vehicles and their real-life doppelgangers that will leave you astonished

Disney & Pixar’s automobiles 3, the third installment in the well-known animated film series about a world inhabited by talking automobiles, opens this weekend. And based on early evaluations it could be the finest one yet.

The authentic blend of mechanical nerdiness and the unquestionable American spirit that propels everything is one of the greatest things about this series.

Today on ShopTalk, we’re delving into a little bit of both as we show you the vibrant ensemble of CAR characters from the forthcoming film as well as the real-world vehicles that served as inspiration!

Thunder McQueen – Chevrolet

Similar to Dale Earnhardt Jr. of NASCAR, our main character (voiced by Owen Wilson) in Cars 3 finds himself becoming older and more weary as he approaches the conclusion of his professional racing career. Although McQueen isn’t based on a particular vehicle, the painters combined design cues from the Chevrolet Corvette C6 and Corvette C1.

Cruz Ramirez’s “CRS Sports Coupe, 2017”
The very feisty person entrusted with helping McQueen get back in form for the main race is voiced by comedian Cristela Alonzo. She isn’t strictly based on any one vehicle, much like McQueen, but rather combines features of the 90s Honda Civic Del Sol and the 2017 Toyota 86/Scion Fr-S.

Jackson Storm: Cadillac Cien Concept from 2002
Jackson Storm, played by actor Armie Hammer, is McQueen’s brash, cunning, and unfriendly opponent. He is quicker, fitter, and younger than the main character in the film. He is referred to be a 2017 Custom-built “Next-Gen” Piston Cup Racer in the film. He most closely resembles the Cadillac Cien supercar concept from 2002 in real life.

Weathers, Strip “The King” – 1970 Plymouth Superbird

The voice of this 1970 Plymouth Superbird, dubbed “Dinoco-blue,” comes from none other than real-life NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty. He had a little part as the reigning Piston Cup champion who was about to retire in the first movie. Regretfully, he suffered severe injuries in an accident toward the conclusion of the movie. McQueen himself gave up the opportunity to win in order to help Weathers cross the finish line, torn as he was between his former, self-serving ambition to win and his newfound compassion.

Porsche 911, 996th generation, Sally Carrera
In Cars 3, Bonnie Hunt plays McQueen’s ex-girlfriend and lawyer Sally Carrera. Sally is a somewhat shorter wheelbase 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera. One of the main narrative points from the first movie is her connection to her little village, which is at odds with the elegance and sophistication of her make-up and model. In the town of Radiator Springs, Sally is the lone contemporary vehicle.

Mack – Mack Super-Liner, 1985

John Ratzenberger, a former employee of Pixar, plays Mack, one of McQueen’s closest buddies and his primary means of transportation between races. He’s a huge, ancient truck with a golden heart, so it seems sense that he would be a 1985 Mack Super-Liner. For many years, NASCAR transported cars using the same vehicle.

Mater (1951) Boom truck made by Chevrolet

Lightning McQueen’s closest buddy is John “Tow” Mater, played by comedian Larry “The Cable Guy” Whitney. A tow truck who’s seen quite a bit of miles, Mater may come out as a typical small town bumpkin but he’s definitely a favorite among Cars’ younger fans. Although he seems a touch rusty, it’s evident that he was designed after the 1951 Chevrolet boom truck and the 1951 International Harvester tow truck (the same automobile). Since the truck’s debut, it has been and continues to be utilized for towing.

Several of Pixar’s most popular films include the Cars series. Undoubtedly, this may be ascribed to the vibrant ensemble that captivates children and the unexpected degree of gearhead affection that motivates adults. Watch Cars 3 at a cinema near you to see these vehicles and more!
