Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning

It won’t come as too big a surprise to some, but Tom Cruise is now being accused of having a “crazy invincibility complex.” It’s true that the 62-year-old actor exquisitely continues to do his own stunts, as the Hollywood A-lister was clearly spotted performing some wicked aerial work back in July, while shooting next summer’s highly anticipated Mission: Impossible 8.

However, an unnamed source has voiced their opinion in the press and is worried that Cruise isn’t taking into account his age, to say nothing of all the variables that could go wrong during those jaw-dropping daredevil stunts the Oscar nominee continues to mesmerize audiences with. The “film source” told RadarOnline:

“Tom’s got this crazy invincibility complex and truly believes he’s a superior human being who’ll be able to pull off these stunts well into his senior years. The reality is there’s always the chance something could go horribly wrong. The scary thing is that he keeps pushing the envelope.

He’s in complete denial that he’s getting older. It’s not just the risks he’s taking; it’s the appearance too. As good as he looks fresh after some subtle nip/tucks, the reality is his skin’s starting to sag a lot more, and his limbs are starting to creak. It’s a situation that he refuses to accept.”

Coming on the heels of his performance in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, and his death-defying stunt during the closing ceremony for this summer’s Paris Olympics, Cruise was seen hanging upside down from an airplane on the set of Dead Reckoning’s sequel. Fans can judge for themselves from the image below if Cruise is truly pressing his luck.

Tom Cruise Is Just Hanging Out in Mission: Impossible 8

There’s a lot of anticipation swirling about Tom Cruise’s next stunt-filled flick, which is next summer’s long-awaited Mission: Impossible 8. Fans got their first look at the upcoming sequel to Dead Reckoning way back in March, and co-star Shea Whigham is assuring the fans that they’re “going to be floored” by the film’s star. Whigham said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

“We did this scene between Tom and myself. And then Tom said, ‘We’re going to go out to dinner.’ So, we went out to dinner when I was done, and then Tom said, ‘Do you realize that we come out one year from today? And it’s going to be a sprint to finish the f—ing thing.’ What he’s doing now… people are going to be floored. He wants to make this one like an adventure film, and he and McQuarrie have an idea of what they want to do with it. So, it’s going to be amazing.”

Whigham wrapped filming his role as Jasper Briggs, who appears in both Dead Reckoning and Mission: Impossible 8, back in July. However, audiences still have a lengthy wait for the release of the final product, which is currently slated to drop in theaters on May 23, 2025. There have been several rumors that the trailer for Cruise’s next stunt-filled extravaganza will arrive within the next month and will play ahead of Ridley Scott’s Gladiator II in theaters. Perhaps this teaser will give fans an idea of just how much Cruise has pushed his luck this time around.
