Well, we are officially two days away from learning who will take home The Voice season 26 title. Danny Joseph became the sole Team Reba member to reach the finale when he snagged the Instant Save following a rousing performance of “House of the Rising Sun.” Here are three quick facts you should know about the London-born artist heading into Monday’s (Dec. 9) Part 1 Live Finale episode.

1. He Has Battled Crohn’s Disease For Nearly a Decade

Danny Joseph was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, a chronic inflammatory bowel ailment that affects the lining of the digestive tract, in 2016. In February 2024, he underwent major surgery to remove his entire colon. Just a few days later, Joseph got the call telling him he had made it onto The Voice.

“It took a while to get my voice back again and learn to sing after all the internal changes that had happened to my body,” he wrote in a Nov. 30 Instagram post.

2. He Would Cross Oceans For Love (And Has)

Danny Joseph had spent his entire life in the United Kingdom when he met his now-wife, Joanna, at a church conference in early 2014. After an 18-month long-distance courtship, he decided to relocate to Dallas, Texas. The couple married on Nov. 8, 2015, and now have three children.

Just months after his move to Texas, in early 2016, Joseph received his Crohn’s diagnosis. “So here I was, in a new country, in the middle of the immigration process, and suddenly navigating a chronic disease,” The Voice finalist told Texas Lifestyle Magazine.

He added, “What should have been the American dream was more like a nightmare!”

3. His Journey on ‘The Voice’ Reflects His Growth as a Singer

Joseph scored a four-chair turn on The Voice with his Blind Audition performance of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put a Spell On You.” But he admitted his vocals weren’t always rock solid. Joseph started writing songs at age 14. At age 18, once his parents had invested in better recording equipment, he “realized I sounded terrible.”

“It dawned on me that if I was to be serious about singing and songwriting, I’d need to get serious about developing my voice,” Joseph told Texas Lifestyle Magazine.

He did, eventually finding his own sound by emulating his favorite singers like Robert Plant, Marvin Gaye and Al Green.
