Shye, the 18-year-old performer competing in the season finale of The Voice has had quite the run. Coached by Michael Bublé, Shye has been a stand-out performer ever since Bublé chose her to be on his team. Furthermore, Shye is one of the few performers who has stayed loyal to Bublé for the entirety of the season, as she hasn’t switched teams. With all that in mind, this might be Shye and Bublé’s chance to take home first place on The Voice.
Before appearing on night one of The Voice’s season finale, Shye has been creating memorable moments for the show. In particular, Shye stunned the world and the judges with her cover of “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” by Five for Fighting during the blind audition round. In addition to getting a four-chair turn, Snoop Dogg stated, “You were made for singing. You were made for everything that’s about to happen to you,” per NBC The Voice.
Snoop Dogg was entirely correct about Shye, as her performance of “One of Us” by Joan Osborne turned heads and just might have bettered her chances of winning it all. Subsequently, Shye doubled down on her talents and performed a gorgeous rendition of “Falling” by Harry Styles. Shye left it all out on that stage, and for her, this win would mean the world. In short, the 18-year-old has lived far more life than the average teenager.
The Voice & Shye’s Route to Success
For the 18-year-old and many others, being on The Voice is a life-changing opportunity. However, for Shye, it means all the more given the trials and tribulations life has offered her. In 2010, Shye’s mother suffered a life-altering injury leaving Shye to be raised by her siblings, community members, and music teachers. It was through this hardship that Shye created a profound and therapeutic relationship with music.
Shye’s relationship with music is so sincerely intense that she skipped her high school graduation to perform during the blind audition round. The decision has paid off immensely, as Skye is one of the final contestants in season 26 of The Voice.
