Girl Named Tom, the popular sibling band that won Season 21 of “The Voice,” will return to Lakeside to once again enthrall the audience with their unique harmonious blend of voices. Girl Named Tom – which is comprised of Ohio natives Bekah, Joshua and Caleb Liechty – will perform in Hoover Auditorium on July 20 at 7:30 p.m.
This is the group’s third Lakeside performance.
“This time around, we’ll be leaning more into our folkiness and roots,” Joshua said. “We’re excited to share a new set with you all that includes your favorites that many of you heard on The Voice, along with reimagined, stripped-down versions of songs we’ve written, doing our best to highlight our trio blend as much as possible. Of course, we’ll have some big, upbeat numbers as well, so hopefully you’re on the edge of your seat the whole show.”
Even when the group plays cover songs, their unique style shines through and gives the song an original feel.
“We have been crafting our style carefully since first starting to sing as a trio in 2019,” Bekah said. “Being siblings gives us a head start for the blend of our voices. We took piano lessons starting at age nine, and we learned music theory. Today my brothers and I work and work and work on our arrangements so that they are compelling to us, because if they’re compelling for us, we can hope that they reach others too.”
Much of the group’s success stems from their extraordinary musical harmony, but they’ve found harmony in their personalities as well.
“Just like having three unique voices is absolutely necessary to our success, so too is having three unique personalities,” Caleb said. “Like everyone, our personalities are impacted by our birth order, our age, our biology, and we strongly believe that it helps having three different enneagram numbers working together.”
Girl Named Tom will perform their new original hit, “Get a Little Lost,” at Lakeside.
“We feel like this song has always been inside of us, just waiting to come out,” Caleb said. “Some of our fondest memories as a young band were of us three driving around the country in our parents’ minivan, self-managing and self-booking our first tour ever, literally getting lost between cities, states and national parks. The misdirections, mishaps and surprises are what makes that year so incredibly unique and special to us. And as we continue this wild journey of a music career, we need reminded constantly that no path is straight, that failures are a part of success. This song is a hopeful reminder that we all need.”
Bekah, Joshua and Caleb are excited about returning to Lakeside.
“This will be our third time performing at Lakeside, and we love how the community there has had the opportunity to watch us grow as musicians, performers and people,” Joshua said. “We felt warmly welcomed our very first time there, and we like it more and more each time we return. Everyone greets you with a smile, and the natural beauty of the grounds always takes my breath away.”
