A fan-made video shows AI-generated images of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie characters, but re-imagined as anime.
Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most legendary pirate movie franchises Hollywood has ever received. On the other hand, One Piece rules the pirate genre in the manga and anime world. With the latest One Piece live-action, fans finally got to see their favorite characters as real people, which led to the series being a smash hit.
It is only natural for fans to want an anime version of Pirates of the Caribbean as well. However, such an adaptation is not possible due to Walt Disney’s iron grip on the franchise, or it will be years before a potential announcement is made. But fans have fulfilled their desires through the use of AI without depending on production companies.
Pirates of the Caribbean Reimagined as an Anime

In a fan-made video, the characters of Pirates of the Caribbean have been reimagined as anime characters. While the video does not have the plot of the franchise as an anime, it does portray the characters quite accurately. The video consists of AI-generated images which are inspired by the style of Studio Ghibli movies.
Studio Ghibli has unique art styles in each of its anime films. They consist of characters that look more realistic than the plain, pointy-faced, and cat-eyed characters of modern-day anime. The face shapes of each character are different, and they don’t stick to the same face shape with different hair colors to distinguish between characters.

The AI-generated images take note of these various characteristics and even take into account the personalities of the Pirates of the Caribbean actors to reproduce realistic renditions of the pirates but in Ghibli’s style. Characters like Jack Sparrow (oops, Captain Jack Sparrow), Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann, Gibbs, Hector Barbossa, Davy Jones, and others have been successfully turned into aesthetically pleasing and accurate anime characters.
Will Pirates of the Caribbean Receive an Anime Series?

With a plethora of anime series receiving live-action remakes as well as popular Hollywood series receiving their anime counterparts, the possibility of a Pirates of the Caribbean anime is more than you think. From the recent Suicide Squad Isekai (based on Suicide Squad) to Blade Runner Black Lotus (inspired by Blade Runner), many Hollywood series have discovered the potential of the anime market.
Vice versa, many popular anime have also received live-action remakes, though very few of them have done it right, like Netflix’s One Piece. Pirates of the Caribbean is an extremely popular film franchise, and generations of movie-goers have grown up watching the tale of the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow. If it indeed receives an anime, it would not have a lack of audience.
A leak article from 2022 also stated that an animated series for Pirates of the Caribbean is being developed for streaming on Disney+. However, the authenticity of the news is questionable. Disney itself has not announced any such production, so you will have to sit tight till an official first look is revealed (if it is being developed at all.)
The Pirates of the Caribbean movies are currently being streamed on Disney+.
