Twelve years on, the actress could be sitting down with Oprah

It feels like a lifetime since Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise shocked the showbiz world and announced their split. It’s widely thought that Katie called it a day because of Tom’s devotion to Scientology, but the former power couple have kept the nitty gritty details private…until now.

According to reports, Katie – who was given sole custody of their daughter Suri, with Tom agreeing to pay the actress $400,000 a year until Suri turned 18 – could be about to do a tell-all interview now that she’s free of the arrangement. US sources have claimed that, since Suri’s 18th birthday in April, Katie has been inundated with “mind-blowing” offers to reveal all.

“Now that Suri can deal with her dad directly, everything’s changed for Katie,” an insider tells heat. “Although, she’s still unnerved by the thought of doing an interview, as there’s things that she’s still unable to fully talk about, even privately.”

It’s thought that Katie is sounding out Oprah for the explosive sit-down chat. It would be a far cry from 62-year-old Tom’s conversation with the host in 2005, famous for his cringy performance that included him jumping on the sofa to declare how in love he was with Katie.

The couple went on to tie the knot in 2006, but it all came to an end in 2012, after Katie sensationally filed for divorce – reportedly blindsiding Tom – and moved from LA to New York, gaining full custody of Suri. Tom later admitted that Scientology had been a factor in the split, with Katie not wanting Suri to be brought up in the religion.

While Tom has stayed close to his older children Bella, 31, and Connor, 29 (both still practitioners of Scientology), whom he adopted with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, 57, it’s reported that he’s barely had contact with Suri, and in June, it was revealed that Suri had dropped his surname.

[Tom] insists that he hasn’t completely shut Suri out of his life. He does get updates from time to time, but it’s a very sensitive subject,” a source revealed.

If Katie, 45, were to do an interview, she wouldn’t be short of things to talk about. Aside from her six-year relationship with actor Jamie Foxx, sources say she never quite recovered from her marriage to Tom.

“Tom did such a number on her self-esteem, her ability to trust men, and her ability to trust herself,” our insider says. “It’s no exaggeration to say she’d rather be single than wind up with another guy like Tom.”

Most recently, she was linked to musician Bobby Wooten, but they split in December 2022 after eight months, with insiders saying that Suri was Katie’s priority. Our source adds, “Katie isn’t totally shut off to love. She’d love to meet the right guy, but she has a big wall up.”
