Would the Miami Dolphins consider trading wide receiver Tyreek Hill to an AFC East rival?

In a piece published Tuesday, an NFC personnel man told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler he expects the Dolphins to send Hill to the New England Patriots this offseason.

“The Patriots are desperate. They need a guy, that alpha that can be friendly for [quarterback] Drake Maye,” the personnel man told Fowler. “And there’s a higher chance of the draft picks [Miami would receive in a trade] being higher than with a contender.”

Fowler suggested the Patriots will court Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins, an unrestricted free agent this offseason. However, a trade for Hill would be their fallback plan.

Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently told “The Pat McAfee Show” that the WR is “committed to the Dolphins,” but they will discuss his future this offseason.

Hill seems unhappy in Miami after the Dolphins went 8-9 and missed the playoffs this season. Following a Week 18 loss to the New York Jets, he implied he wants to play elsewhere in 2025.

The Patriots went 4-13 and missed the postseason for a third straight year, but if Maye fulfills his potential, they may have a bright future.

In 13 games, the rookie out of North Carolina finished with 2,276 passing yards, 15 touchdown passes, 10 interceptions and an above-average 58.6 QBR.

The Patriots recently hired new head coach Mike Vrabel, who won 2021 Coach of the Year with the Tennessee Titans. The former linebacker also captured three Super Bowls when starred for New England from 2001-08.

While the Patriots may offer the Dolphins a massive package for Hill, it would still be surprising if he landed in New England.

Miami may not want to face Hill twice a year. More importantly, the eight-time Pro Bowler probably prefers to play for a Super Bowl contender.
