The update came as her son was preparing to play in this year’s AFC Championship.
Patrick Mahomes’ Mom Is ‘Lost for Words’ Amid Upsetting Family Update
Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi Mahomes, had some upsetting news to share this week amid her father’s deteriorating health.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s mom posted the update on Instagram Stories on Friday, Jan. 24. A screenshot of the post that was later published by Us Weekly showed a snapshot of Randi standing beside her father, Randy, as the two posed together for the photo.
In a text overlay included with the image, Randi wrote, “My dad is in hospice & I’m lost for words 🙏 🙏 🙏.” She also cited a bible verse, Colossians 3:20, which reads, “Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”
The latest development about the NFL star’s grandfather came about four months after Randi revealed that her father was in the hospital and “not well.”
“Prayer warriors please pray for my daddy,” she requested in a Sept. 13, 2024, post on X, formerly Twitter. A couple of weeks later, she indicated that her father was still in the hospital when she shared a photo on X that was taken inside a hospital room. Her father was in a hospital bed, and the room’s TV was tuned to a Kansas City Chiefs game so that Randy could watch his grandson at work.
In the months that followed, Randi shared occasional updates with her social media followers as she reflected on the “priceless” conversations she enjoyed with her father and her visits to see him.
“Headed to visit my dad. Priceless time and talks… ❤️,” Randi tweeted in mid-November. A few weeks later, she shared that she was planning on “Celebrating thanksgiving with my daddy and watching the game with him ❤️.”
Randi has not shared further details about her father’s health on social media. However, she did repeat her request for prayers in a recent post on X. “I just spoke to my dad by phone today always a blessing. Please keep him in your prayers 🙏,” she tweeted on Jan. 9.
Patrick, who welcomed the arrival of his third child with wife Brittany Mahomes earlier this month, did not appear to have publicly commented on the latest update about his grandfather as of midday Saturday, Jan. 25. The star quarterback is expected to lead his teammates in their battle against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship on Sunday, Jan. 26.
