An extended look at Sonic the Hedgehog 3 debuted at Braxil’s Comic Con Experience (CCXP), giving a new glimpse at Sonic (Ben Schwartz) and Shadow’s (Keanu Reeves) globe-trotting adventures in London and Tokyo. The next installment in Paramount’s movie adaptation of Sega’s beloved video game franchise brings the blue speedster into contact with the fan-favorite anti-hero hell-bent on vengeance. Alongside Schwartz and Reeves, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 stars Jim Carrey, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Idris Elba, James Marsters, and Tika Sumpter, reprising their roles from previous movies.
With less than two weeks until Sonic the Hedgehog 3 debuts in theaters, Screen Rant was present as CCXP to see an extended preview of the upcoming movie that gave a new glimpse at moments previously seen in trailers. Beginning with Team Sonic’s mission to Tokyo, the trio emerges from a portal ready to take on any threat that comes their way as Sonic and Knuckles (Elba) trade banter.
Landing in the devastated city streets, the group traces a power signature to Shadow, whose similarities immediately unsettle Sonic, before the anti-hero quickly dispatches the group. Grabbing a gun and bike, Shadow rides off down the road as Sonic pursues and aggravates him further, leading to the pair colliding in the sky as they launch at each other with a dash attack.
The second clip occurs much later in the film, as Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails (O’Shaughnessy) step out of a ring portal chained together into the Wachowski’s living room, much to Tom (Marsters) and Maddie’s (Sumpter) surprise, though they quickly change their tune once they are invited on a mission that will give them a break from the boredom and Tom’s surprising ventriloquism hobby. Targeting GUN HQ in London, Sonic suggests rushing the facility with his superspeed, though it is depicted that it would be a fatal mistake.
Needing to install a USB drive into a system in a move akin to Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible, the team makes the leap to London too late, as Ivo and Gerald Robotnik (Carrey) are already infiltrating the facility in stealth suits. Amid invisibility gags and nods to The Beatles, Sonic dashes to the vault, and a quick intervention by Tails allows Sonic to make it to the location just in time.
What Sonic The Hedgehog 3’s Preview Reveals About The Movie
The Two Clips Are Light On Spoilers

With only just over a dozen days until Sonic the Hedgehog 3 arrives in theaters, the movie’s CCXP preview is light on all-new footage, instead being expansions on scenes glimpsed in footage already available online. Both the team’s Tokyo encounter with Shadow and their heist on the GUN HQ in London were already present throughout the movie’s trailers. In contrast, the Robotnik duo’s heist has seemingly been glimpsed in the music video for the movie’s tie-in song “Run It”, by Jelly Roll.
Instead, the two clips are a greater preview of the movie’s tone and humor, alongside its character dynamics. Some head-butting between Sonic and Knuckles aside, the trio have grown into an effective unit that trusts each other, despite their initial conflict in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Furthermore, it is clear the Robotniks share a mischievous side, with Shadow acting as a no-nonsense straight-man to everyone.
Our Thoughts On Sonic the Hedgehog 3’s CCXP Preview
The Movie Still Has Plenty Of Surprises To Behold

While both clips have teased Sonic the Hedgehog 3‘s action, there is still plenty hiding under the surface. With Shadow and Gerald bringing their tragic tales to screen, Fowler has stated that the movie will be a faithful retelling of their video game storyline.
As such, the CCXP preview has shown that despite these new story elements, the movie will retain the tone of past installments. With this, it can be assumed that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will leave all kinds of fans pleased.
