Tom Cruise will delight Olympics fans tonight as he plays a part in the closing ceremony in Paris, according to widespread reports.

The 62-year-old is expected to perform a daring stunt during the event as France hand over the Games to the United States, ahead of the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

It has been reported by TMZ that Cruise, the star of iconic films including Top Gun, Rain Man and Jerry Maguire, will abseil down from the stop of the Stade de France during the ceremony, while carrying the Olympic flag. Of course, Cruise is one of the most famous actors in the world, with a very public romantic life and a colossal net worth. Here’s everything you need to know.

Surprising age

With his daredevil spirit still firmly intact, those watching the Olympics closing ceremony may be surprised to learn that Cruise is actually 62 years old.

While he obviously looks different to when he got his big break in Risky Business over 40 years ago, the actor has maintained a youthful look and is still throwing himself into things that some less than half his age would be too scared to do.

He has previously shared the secrets to his youthful look, explaining that he eats 1,200 calories a day with a diet that consists of mostly grilled foods. He also exercises regularly and enjoys jogging, kayaking and mountain biking.

Stunning net worth

After four decades as a Hollywood superstar, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Cruise has an utterly staggering net worth.

Having hit the silver screen in the 1980s, the actor and producer has starred in some of the most popular films of the last 40 years including Top Gun, Rain Man and Jerry Maguire, as well as the Mission: Impossible franchise. Cruise is one of the highest-paid actors in the world, with Celebrity Net Worth estimating his net worth at around $600 million.

Most of this net worth has come from his work on films, having made tens of millions of dollars on each of the Mission: Impossible films. According to Cosmopolitan, he made a reported $70 million for the first Mission Impossible movie and $75 million for Mission Impossible 3, while he got even more for the Mission Impossible sequel, earning $100 million for it.

Cruise’s films have grossed over $11.5 billion at the global box office, with 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick – for which he was paid $13 million up front – earning him $1.5 billion globally.

Three famous wives

Since his career took off in the 1980s, Cruise has been married to three famous actresses, starting with Mimi Rogers, star of The Rapture and Gung Ho.

The pair married in 1987 having met at a dinner party the previous year, with a seven year age gap between the two. However, they separated in December 1989 and divorced in 1990, with reported reasons behind the split ranging from Cruise’s blossoming career to problems in the bedroom.

However, that same year, Cruise got hitched again as he married Nicole Kidman, having met the 22-year-old actress on the set of Days of Thunder. While they faced accusations that their relationship was for publicity, they were married for 11 years and adopted two children together – Isabella and Connor – before splitting in 2001.

The following year, Kidman told Vanity Fair:”I realised I could be fulfilled creatively. I tried to deny it because it would have been so much easier for me to be satiated by being a wife. I wish it could have been part of my trajectory, but it wasn’t.”

Five years later, Cruise married Katie Holmes, with a 17 year age gap between the pair. Together, they had a daughter, Suri, but she was just six when Katie filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

They released a joint statement that read: “We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri’s best interests. We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other’s commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other’s roles as parents.”

Rumoured girlfriend

Earlier this year, Cruise was rumoured to be dating 25-year-old singer-songwirter Victoria Canal.

After seeing her perform at Glastonbury this summer, the actor reportedly invited her to the set of Mission: Impossible 8 in Oxfordshire, with a source telling The Sun: “It might have seemed unlikely that they would become anything more than friends but they are pretty much inseparable. They have been seeing a lot of one another and Victoria is beautiful. It’s all been happening in plain sight.”

However, Canal has since shut down the speculation, describing it as “bonkers”. In a social media post, she wrote: “Guys, this is literally bonkers, but apparently the tabloids think I am dating Tom Cruise. I’m deceased.

“Let’s just stop this in its tracks – I’m sorry to bum u out but I am not dating the man, albeit a lovely person & artist,” she added. “Lol never thought I would have to clarify that out loud in my life. Yall. If you’re gonna write me up @pagesix use a better picture damn.”
