Tom Cruise stood up for co-star on the sets of a movie, refusing to let her do a nude scene and even offering to go nude himself if required.
Tom Cruise is one of the most renowned talents in the entertainment industry, never hesitating to do what needs to be done to deliver performances that would leave viewers absolutely baffled. Be it death-defying stunts or simply standing up for his co-stars in times of need even if it meant he himself could be in trouble – Cruise has proven that he isn’t one to think twice.

Something similar happened on the sets of his 1993 sports romance All the Right Moves as well. Apparently, during filming, there was a moment when his co-star Lea Thompson was asked to get n-ked, but she wasn’t comfortable doing that. Thus, Cruise not only talked the producers out of it but even threatened to get n-ked himself if his conditions weren’t met!
Tom Cruise Had Lea Thompson’s Back During All the Right Moves
Hot off the success of Risky Business, the next project Tom Cruise had signed onto back in the early 1990s was All the Right Moves. An R-rated sports romance, the piece starred the Top Gun alum as Stefan “Stef” Djordjevic, a high school student desperate to leave his dying steel mill hometown of Ampipe, Pennsylvania, and study to be an engineer on a football scholarship.
Helping him get through those tough days as he struggled to achieve this pipe dream of his was his love interest, Lisa Lietzke, brought to life spectacularly by Lea Thompson. But while both the actors were commended in the movie for their respective performances and the chemistry they shared, Thompson just may not have had the best of times shooting it had it not been for Cruise.
In an interview with Closer Weekly, she came clean about how she didn’t even audition for the film but got the part and was then asked to bare herself for the screens – something she was uneasy with. “[The producers] wanted me to show my breasts twice in the script,” she said. “I didn’t even audition because I didn’t want to take my shirt off, but I got the part and was like, ‘Okay.’”

But that’s exactly when the Mission: Impossible actor jumped to her rescue. Apparently, when he found out that Thompson felt uncomfortable stripping herself one too many times for the movie, he took matters into his own hands and talked the producers out of it. As Thompson shared, “Tom [Cruise] managed to talk them out of one of the [n–de] scenes.”
The other n-de scene, however, still posed a problem. This one required the Back to the Future actress to appear topless, and she, obviously, wasn’t okay with it. But Cruise didn’t hesitate to have her back once again and came up with a threat this time around. As Thompson continued to share, “In the second, he said, ‘Well, if she has to be naked, I’ll be naked, too.’”
Turns out, the trick seemingly worked, and Thompson was let off the hook. And, of course, she will always remain grateful to the actor for the same.

During the same interview, the Some Kind of Wonderful actress went on to let know that she was truly grateful to her male co-star for standing up for her when she needed him to. If anything, she even found it rather “badass” that the Edge of Tomorrow actor did something like this without even caring how it could have affected him in a counter-turn of events.
Candidly gushing on in praise for him and emphasizing her gratitude towards him for the same, the 63-year-old actress went on to say about her 62-year-old co-star and his actions during the same interview: “That’s pretty badass! I’ve always been grateful to him for standing up to the producers.”
Well, for what it’s worth, it isn’t the first time that Tom Cruise has done something like this for his co-stars and acted so chivalrous toward them. Nonetheless, we have to admit: It was badass indeed!
All the Right Moves can currently be watched on Prime Video.
