Sofronio Vasquez and Shye Roberts have had an epic two months since their stints on The Voice. During the show’s 26th season, Vasquez and Roberts came in first and second place, respectively.
In doing so, they made history for their coach, Michael Bublé. The superstar became the first Voice coach in history to have the top two acts in their debut season. He was the fourth coach to win the show during their first-ever time in the chair.
After the results of The Voice were revealed in December, Vasquez, the winner, and Roberts, the runner up, have had an exciting few weeks. Keeping reading to see what each act has been up to since their successful time on the show.
Sofronio Vasquez
The dentist, who became the first Filipino and Asian to win The Voice, hasn’t slowed down since his big win. After a whirlwind press tour and the Christmas holiday, Vasquez returned to The Philippines where he was given a hero’s welcome.
He even met with the President of the Republic of the Philippines. He then appeared on talk shows and vlogs, played his first-ever headlining show, and rode on a float during a parade.
Vasquez was even recognized by the Senate of The Philippines, and recently announced that he’ll headline a show in Dubai this May.
“I’m really persistent,” he told Metro.Style. “I was also able to use my being persistent to pursue my dream. Because I was persistent toward my dream. I was persistent about the chance to reach that dream.”
Shye Roberts
After coming in second place on The Voice, the 18-year-old singer took to Instagram to celebrate her successful run.
“Thank you so much for the love!!! 2nd is my favorite place to be and i am so hype for what’s next and it’s all thanks to you guys,” she wrote. “I’m going to miss this experience and the wonderful people who make it work.”
On Dec. 23, Roberts was honored by her Pennsylvania hometown, who hosted Shye Appreciation Day at the Nassau County Chambers. Deputy Mayor Donna McNaughton and Pamela D. Panzenbeck joined Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman to honor her achievements.
Roberts went on to share funny videos online, as well as a photo roundup that included a pic showing “BOTH my parents happy as pie for my success.”
Last month, Roberts once again wowed with her incredible voice by sharing a video of herself singing Adele’s “All I Ask.”
