A Reddit thread before the finale also listed Sofronio and Shye as the finalists most likely to win The Voice. “Sofronio can perform anything but I think Shye will make better records. Tough decision!” a user wrote. Another user commented, “I agree. Sofronio delivered as usual and his back story is full of heart and love Shye, she surprised me tonight. I wouldn’t be mad if she won.”
Others also cited Sofronio’s strong performances of Sia’s “Unstoppable” and “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman soundtrack in The Voice Season 26‘s finale as the reason he edged out other finalists for fans’ votes. “I started out rooting for Jeremy. He will be awesome in a Broadway musical! Then, I shifted to Shye but in the end I went with Sofronio. He really impressed me last night,” a user wrote. Another user commented, “Sofronio. He sings as easy as breathing. And he lives inside the song. These are gifts you can’t teach and for me, are the essence of music.” One more user wrote, “Sofronio by the tiniest of margins. Shye is phenomenal and I will buy her record for sure!”
If Sofonio or Shye were to win The Voice, they would be the first win for Bublé, who was a new coach for Season 26 alongside Snoop Dogg. Before his debut on The Voice, Buble told Entertainment Weekly about why he viewed his role as a coach so seriously. “I’ve been lucky enough to have my dream come true as an entertainer and as a musician. And honestly, I don’t know if there’s anything more fulfilling in the world than having a chance to be part of doing that for someone else,” Bublé said.
He continued, “I know that this is a TV show, and I know that there’s a game involved and that each of us are playing a part, but I can tell you this, it’s not a game for any of us. We talk about it off camera. We know that each of these people, this is their life, their destiny, their dream. And we know that we’re a big part of this journey. And while it isn’t the beginning or end of their journey, we know that we’re a part of it and we take that responsibility really seriously.”
The Voice is available to stream on Peacock.
