Negan and Maggie on 'The Walking Dead: Dead City' looking at one another

We are just a little less than two months away from the eagerly-awaited Season 2 return of The Walking Dead: Dead City, and what better way to prepare for the show’s comeback than a little rewatch? Or perhaps you haven’t yet subscribed to the show’s home streamer on AMC+ but find yourself intrigued about the Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan-led spin-off? Well, in either case, fear not (fear only the dead), as Netflix will soon become a second home to the first season of The Walking Dead offshoot.

Beginning on March 17, subscribers will be invited to step into one of the three new titles that spawned from the flagship series following its demise in 2022. Following the incredibly unlikely duo of Morgan’s psychopathic Negan and Cohan’s Maggie, the production keeps up with the pair as they travel to the post-apocalyptic wasteland of New York City on a mission to rescue the latter’s son, Hershel (Logan Kim). With all installments arriving at once, the six-episode debut season will make for the perfect binge as you prepare to take on the dead again when Season 2 rises on May 4.

As far as stats are concerned, the first season of Dead City garnered mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series currently sits with a 79% critics’ approval rating, while audiences were less into it, hitting it with a cumulative score of 62%. Still, the network chose to push forward with a second season, which looks to further explore the odd dynamic between its main characters. However, all the trailers and teasers point to a divide between Maggie and Negan in the next set of episodes, as each character aligns themselves with different groups warring for control of the Big Apple.

Following the flagship show’s 2022 ending, three titles rose to walk amongst the living. Along with Dead City, audiences have followed the continuation story of Norman Reedus’ titular character in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and gone on a quest for love and family alongside Andrew Lincoln’s Rick and Danai Gurira’s Michonne in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. Out of the trio, the clear favorite is Daryl Dixon, which is currently filming its third season. Meanwhile, despite being initially billed as a one-off miniseries, it sounds like there might be life left in The Ones Who Live after all.
