Nicole Kidman recently reminisced about her time working with ex-husband Tom Cruise and director Stanley Kubrick on the 1999 movie, Eyes Wide Shut. It seemed like a harmless look back on a moment in time in her career, but there was one person who was reportedly displeased with her conversation in honor of the film’s 25th anniversary.

Cruise was reportedly “irritated” that her interview with the Los Angeles Times generated so much press. “Tom doesn’t understand why Nicole constantly seems to constantly reference the times they shared together,” an In Touch Weekly insider claimed. “Even if it is more about the work they did together, it still bothers him because it’s so far in the past and something he’d like to forget.” It’s a “chapter of his life” that he “said goodbye to” ages ago and wishes Kidman would do the same.

The 57-year-old actress talked about the process of filming the movie and shared one small anecdote about her marriage to Cruise. “We had a home 10 minutes away, but we lived in that trailer,” she recalled. “Tom and I shared it because Stanley would say, ‘You’re not each getting a trailer. We can’t afford it.’ Tom had a smaller area because he was running stuff, and he’d play video games. That was when [“Minesweeper”] was big. So, there was a lot of that.” A video-game story really shouldn’t send Cruise over the edge, though.

The In Touch Weekly source believes that the 62-year-old actor is bothered by the fact that she name-dropped him in an interview. “He feels used and wishes she’d have the couth to simply make those questions off limits, the way he does,” they added. The Mission Impossible star seems to forget that fans will always be curious about his marriage to Kidman because he kept their two kids, Bella, 31, and Connor, 29, in the Church of Scientology with him.

Kidman respects her adult children’s privacy, but she sometimes gives little bite-sized quotes that show she’s in touch with them behind the scenes. “I’ve chosen not to speak publicly about Scientology,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2013. “I have two children who are Scientologists — Connor and Isabella — and I utterly respect their beliefs.”

While fans may never know the full story about Cruise and Kidman’s divorce, they certainly appreciate her tiny insight into their former power couple union.
