Tom Cruise‘s love life has been very public for most of his career and he has dated many famous women, including some that you probably forgot about!

Of course, everyone is aware that Tom was married to Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes, but do you remember all the other women he dated?

Melissa Gilbert

Melissa Gilbert says that she dated Tom in the early 80s before he even became “Tom Cruise.”

“Actually, when I dated him he was Tom Mapother still. It was when he first moved to Los Angeles and I think I was 16, maybe, or 17?” she said during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

She added, “I did not have sex with him. We made out, but, honestly, there was no sex. He was a good kisser. But, you know, he was, like, a struggling, starving actor. I actually bought him his first set of dishes.”

Heather Locklear

While Tom and Heather Locklear were never an official couple, she did go on a date with him.

Heather said on an episode of Chelsea Lately in 2013 that she went on a date with Tom after they both auditioned for a project together.

She said, “You know in Risky Business where he does that dance in his underwear and does the splits? We were dancing at a club and he went into that. He starting doing the splits. You just kind of stand there and don’t know what to do. Do you dance around him? So, I was like, ‘I’ll just sit down and you can.’”

Heather says she believes that was the only date they went on.

Rebecca De Mornay

Rebecca De Mornay starred in the 1983 movie Risky Business with Tom and they dated for two and a half years after making the film.

She told Celebrity Page in 2018, “He came to grow on me because we wound up together for two and a half years after that film.”

Cher

Cher has listed Tom as one of her five greatest lovers!

While appearing on Watch What Happens Live, Cher revealed her list and said, “I had just the greatest lovers ever. Not a long list. It’s just a good list.”

Cher later explained how she met Tom.

“A bunch of people who were dyslexic were invited to the White House, and Tom and I are both dyslexic. We didn’t go out till way later, but there definitely was a connection there,” Cher told the Mail on Sunday in 2018. “Though I don’t get what he does, that whole Scientology thing. I can’t understand it so I just… don’t.”

Mimi Rogers

Tom met actress Mimi Rogers in 1986 and they got married in May 1987. Three years later, they were divorced.

Before their split, Tom told Rolling Stone, “I’d never been in love before. Since I’ve been with her, it’s opened me up a lot. I think it’s helped me be a better actor. We live a lot of life together. We share everything… I care about my wife more than anything in the world. She’s my best friend. I just really like being with her, you know? I love her.”

Nicole Kidman

Tom met Nicole Kidman while playing lovers in the movie Days of Thunder. They were married in 1990 and adopted two children together – Isabella in 1992 and Connor in 1994. They announced their split in February 2001 and he filed for divorce two days later.

In a rare interview about their marriage, Nicole talked about filming Eyes Wide Shut with Tom in 1999.

“We were happily married through that. We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at three in the morning. I don’t know what else to say. Maybe I don’t have the ability to look back and dissect it. Or I’m not willing to,” she told the New York Times in October 2020.

Penélope Cruz

Tom met Penelope Cruz on the set of their movie Vanilla Sky in 2000 and they dated for three years.

After their split in 2004, Penelope‘s rep told People, “They remain good friends and still talk often. There is no other person involved.”

Nazanin Boniadi

It has been rumored, but never confirmed, that Tom dated actress Nazanin Boniadi from November 2004 to January 2005.

One of the rumors surrounding their relationship was that Nazanin was selected for Tom by the Church of Scientology, according to Vanity Fair.

Sofia Vergara

At this point in the timeline, Tom reportedly was set up with Sofia Vergara, who was still an up-and-coming actress at the time.

It has been rumored that Will Smith invited Sofia to attend a pre-Oscar party, where she was set up with Tom. She reportedly did not pursue a relationship with him though.

In a 2017 interview with The Daily Beast, a reporter said to Sofia, “I remember reading that you had dated Tom Cruise, and a few months after you two split, he proposed to Katie Holmes. But I haven’t heard too much about what it was like to be with Tom.”

She responded, “Let’s keep it that way! [Laughs hysterically] I don’t want to talk about that!”

Katie Holmes

Katie Holmes told Seventeen in 2004 that she “used to think that [she] was going to marry Tom Cruise” and that indeed happened.

Tom and Katie started dating in early 2005 and they got engaged in June 2005 after just a few months of dating. Who will ever forget the moment when he jumped on Oprah‘s couch to declare his love?

Their daughter Suri Cruise was born in April 2006 and they got married in Italy in November 2006.

The couple broke up in June 2012.

Hayley Atwell – NOT TRUE!

While filming the upcoming Mission: Impossible movie together, there were rumors that Tom was dating co-star Hayley Atwell. These weren’t true though.

In July 2023, Hayley shared that she viewed Tom, and their director Christopher McQuarrie as “two uncles.”

“I would be like, ‘Ooh, there’s some weird rumours, and it feels base, it feels a little dirty, it feels grubby, it’s not what I’m about,’” she added. “Why are things being assumed or projected onto me about my relationship with my work colleague and boss?”

Hayley does admit that the rumors were “upsetting” because “it’s involving people in my actual life, my personal life, who have to be on the receiving end of that. It becomes invasive.”

Elsina Khayrova

Tom was linked to Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova in December 2023 after they were spotted during a party in London.

“They were inseparable – clearly a couple,” an insider told the Daily Mail. “He seemed to be besotted with her.”

The report claims that Tom and Elsina were seen dancing with each other for most of the night. It was also said that Tom “politely” declined requests for photos from other partygoers.

By late March 2024, it was reported that the couple split over concerns about her ex-husband, a Russian oligarch, talking about their relationship.
