As one of his prizes, Huntley was given a record deal with Republic Records after winning Season 24 of The Voice. A month after winning the TV show, Hunter flew out to New York City to meet with his new record label and team. He even posted a carousel of images on Instagram pertaining to his trip. In July 2024, Huntley gave fans an update on his long-awaited music. On Instagram, he shared that he had signed with music executive Edward Crowe. That seemed to mean that he was no longer working with Republic Records. In his post, Huntley and Edward make it official when they sign a music contract. In addition, Huntley shared, “I can’t wait for ya’ll to hear this album and hear all the music we will be working on.”

The winners of past seasons of The Voice have gone on to do amazing things in their singing careers. However, like Huntley, there have been a few winners to cut ties with Republic Records. These contestants revealed their true feelings about being set up with the label.

The very first season saw Connecticut-born singer/songwriter Javier Colon take home the title in 2011. Although he released his album Come Through For You under Republic, he decided to depart from the music label a year later after believing they did not support his music. Javier spoke to Buddy TV about leaving Republic Records for good:

“But when you pour your heart and soul into a new album that you think is really great, and your label who is supposed to support, market and promote your music does neither, it’s really hard not to be upset,” Javier said.

The Voice Season 8 winner, Sawyer Fredericks, also made the decision to leave the label. The folk singer wanted more control over his music and became an independent artist. In an interview with Windy City Times, Fredericks explained that he did not like how the record label was pushing him to create music that did not resonate with him.

“I left them really because I felt I wasn’t getting enough creative freedom … I just didn’t want that. I’ve been happy since I left,” he shared.

Although Huntley didn’t release his record after his win, he was extremely busy touring across the United States and even singing the national anthem for NFL games during the 2023-2024 season. In January 2024, he performed at the historic Pioneer Theater in Manteo, North Carolina. In April 2024, Huntley showcased his impressive vocals at the Out Of The Park Music Festival in Arizona.

Huntley also performed the national anthem at the December 2023 Buffalo Bills vs. Los Angeles Chargers NFL game. He’s also been showcasing new, original music on social media. Hopefully, Huntley will be part of a long-lasting management team that believes in him, and fans can expect an album shortly.
