The four coaches who will be in the big red chairs for Season 27 of “The Voice” include a returning champ, two longtime favorites and a newcomer.
The newest season of “The Voice” features the return of a beloved original coach as well as a new face taking a seat in the red chair.
Season 27 of the singing competition, which premieres on Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, will include Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, crooner Michael Bublé, singer and “The Voice” veteran John Legend and newcomer Kelsea Ballerini.
The show announced in June 2024 that Levine would make his return after having been a coach on the show for its first 16 seasons. Levine departed the show in 2019, posting a heartfelt message of gratitude, but now is ready to take his red chair back.
“I’m well rested,” Levine said in an Instagram video in June. “It’s going to be awesome. Let’s go!”
“Team Adam is back,” he continued. “I feel bad for the other teams.”
Bublé is the lone returning member from the Season 26 quartet of coaches after coaching Sofronio Vasquez to victory. Legend, Levine and Ballerini replace Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani from last season’s cast of coaches.
Read on to learn about each of the four coaches on Season 27 of “The Voice.”
Adam Levine

One of the OGs from the early days of the hit talent competition, Levine is back after a nearly six-year hiatus.
The Maroon 5 singer took a trip down memory line to some past moments on the show in an Instagram video posted by “The Voice” on Jan. 28. It wouldn’t be a proper reminiscence without some jabs at his friend and longtime rival on “The Voice,” country music star Blake Shelton.
“It’s going to be awesome,” Levine says about the upcoming season. “Blake isn’t on it.”
The father of three told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show in 2019 that he missed his time on the show after leaving as a coach earlier that year.
“And, you know, I do miss it, but I also don’t miss how much I had to work,” he said. “I was just constantly working for so many years. Very lucky, very fortunate, very blessed and all that.”
However, the three-time Grammy winner couldn’t stay away for too long.
“I did miss the chair,” he said in an Instagram video on Jan. 22. “It’s a unique and singular experience, and it can’t really be replicated in any other aspect.”
John Legend

The Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and pianist isn’t too far behind Levine as a veteran on “The Voice.”
While he wasn’t on Season 26, this will mark his 10th season overall as a coach on “The Voice.” He first appeared as a coach on Season 16 in 2019.
“Now I’m kind of like an OG, too,” he told Levine in an Instagram video shared by the show on Jan. 22. “We know what we’re doing.”
Legend is looking forward to seeing the latest up-and-coming talent.
“There’s new, big artists out, styles kind of evolve, and so it’s interesting seeing what young artists are inspired by now,” he said in the Instagram video.
Michael Bublé

Yet another multiple Grammy winner, Bublé returns after a successful debut on “The Voice” in Season 26.
The Canadian crooner coached singer Sofronio Vasquez to victory during his first season as a coach on the show.
“To get to coach them and live the fantasy of having this career that I’ve had, and then get to have the fulfillment of helping someone else get that, that’s the cool part of it,” he said on TODAY ahead of Season 26.
Kelsea Ballerini

The country music star and five-time Grammy nominee joins the cast for the first time as a coach in Season 27.
The “Peter Pan” singer, 31, ensures there’s still plenty of country vibes on the show with the departure of Reba McEntire.
This isn’t Ballerini’s first appearance on “The Voice,” as she also filled in for coach Kelly Clarkson in 2021 when Clarkson was under the weather.
“I feel like you have to bet on yourself and after I filled in for Kelly, I have this group text with all my girlfriends, and I was like, ‘I really want to do this one day,'” Ballerini said on TODAY on Jan. 27.
“So when the producers came to Nashville after Blake (Shelton) left, I didn’t know who else they were talking to, but I had dinner with them and I leaned across the table and I said, ‘Listen I know I’m newer. I’m sure you’re interviewing legends, but I really want this job and I promise I can do it.’ Divine timing, a couple years later, it worked out and here we are.”
Ballerini’s versatile talents have also been on display as a guest co-host on TODAY with Jenna & Friends this past January.
