Shye Roberts, of Bethlehem, is one of eight semifinalists remaining and hoping to win Season 26 of “The Voice.”
Here’s hoping the joke’s on them.
After a mellifluous rendition of Brandi Carlile’s “The Joke” on Monday night, Bethlehem’s Shye Roberts is hoping to make it into the top five contestants for a chance to win “The Voice.”
Her fate on season 26 of the NBC singing competition show is now in viewers’ hands.
Fans of the Lehigh Charter High School for Arts graduate, one of eight singers left on the show, can vote online to mark Roberts safe after her cover of Carlile’s 2018 single.
It seemed to have made an impression on the show’s judges Monday night.
“From the very first time I heard your voice it stood out,” said judge Reba McEntire. “It’s round, it’s full, it’s pure, it’s big bodied, down the lowland. It is so crisp, you can hear every word you say. You mesmerize me. I love the way you sing.”
Roberts and contestant Sofronio Vasquez are the two singers remaining on star singer Michael Bublé’s team.
The 18-year-old Roberts also performed a duet, “Fields of Gold,” with fellow contestant Sydney Sterlace, aided by the song’s original singer, Sting. The Police frontman was a guest mentor on the show earlier this season.
If she wins “The Voice,” Roberts will take home a cash prize of $100,000 and a recording contract.
The other seven semifinalists hoping to be named the winner are: Christina Eagle and Jeremy Beloate on Team Snoop Dogg; Danny Joseph and Adam Bohanan on Team Reba McEntire; and Jan Dan and Sterlace on Team Gwen Stefani.
How to vote for Shye
Voting, which began Monday night, can be cast through the show’s websiteor through the “The Voice” app.
The voting window is open until 7 a.m. Tuesday Eastern Standard Time.
According to NBC, the limit is one vote per email address per voting method.
Five of the remaining eight singers will advance to “The Voice” finals, which air Monday, Dec. 9.
Part two of the semifinal rounds — where viewers will find out who moves to next week’s finals — will air Tuesday night (Dec. 3) at 9 on NBC.
Shye’s journey
After a soulful rendition of One Direction’s “Story of My Life,” Roberts advanced to this week’s live rounds last week.
Bublé picked Roberts and Vasquez as his two last contestants and has called Roberts his favorite singer this season due to her lovable personality and unique sound.
During the playoffs episode, Bublé also compared her voice to Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn — known for their versatile vocal range.

Roberts wowed Bublé and advanced in the battle rounds on Oct. 28 with a rendition of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself.”
The battle rounds began on Oct. 21 with Bublé and fellow coaches Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani and Snoop Dogg.
Her blind audition, which aired on Oct. 8, was a euphonious cover of Five for Fighting’s “Superman (It’s Not Easy)” which got a four-chair turn from the judges.
Roberts, mom Sheila and her stepdad moved to Bethlehem in 2023 from Glen Cove on Long Island, New York.
She finished her senior year at Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts during the 2023-24 academic year.
At the charter school, she belonged to the treble and touring choir and performed at their coffeehouse performances at Godfrey Daniels in Bethlehem.
