The Voice: Reba McEntire Brought to TEARS During Last Knockout Steals

Snoop Dogg is making himself right at home on the set of The Voice. The rapper, who joined the show as a judge and mentor for Season 26, experienced a rite of passage on the reality show—he cried on national television.

The emotional moment took place after contestant Kendall Eugene finished his rendition of Morgan Wallen’s “Don’t Think Jesus”. While the judges seemed to enjoy the performance, none turned their chairs around to invite Eugene to join their team.

Coach Reba McEntire, though, seemed to quickly regret that decision.  “I don’t understand why I did not turn around,” she said.

As the coaches offered feedback, McEntire told Eugene, “I liked everything about it.”

Half-jokingly, Eugene said, “(You) should’ve turned!”

“I was going to say that exact same words,” McEntire replied. Luckily for both Eugene and Team Reba, this season of The Voice has a new trick: A Coach Replay button, which allows coaches to change their minds about a singer.

When McEntire realized she had made a mistake by passing on Eugene, she decided to make history on The Voice and become the first coach to use the new replay option. “We’ve got this new thing this year, that is a Coach Replay button. I’m going to use mine,” McEntire said. The audience roared as she hit her button and Eugene covered his face with his hands in disbelief and relief.

The emotional moment was too much for Snoop Dogg. “Wow! Go give that man a hug,” he told McEntire. As McEntire and Eugene hugged it out, the camera returned to Snoop, just in time to see the rapper lift his glasses to wipe his eyes. It was a sweet moment on an emotional roller coaster and a sure sign that Snoop is going to fit right in as a judge and mentor on the show.
