Jim Carrey Once Again Proves Not Even Tom Cruise Can’t Beat Him at Transformations

With his return to the Sonic franchise, Jim Carrey has once again proved that he is the king of transformations. Although Carrey is notorious for his method-acting antics, the two time Golden Globe Award-winning actor is known for dissolving into the characters he portrays on the big screen.

Carrey’s filmography includes movies such as The Mask and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which saw him play characters with a mean streak. Meanwhile, Carrey also impressed critics and audiences with more dramatic roles in movies like The Truman Show and Man on the Moon.

In contrast, even Tom Cruise has struggled to consistently morph himself into different characters, across genres to become unrecognizable like Carrey. While Cruise made commendable efforts with movies such as Interview with the Vampire and Tropic Thunder, the criticism of essentially playing the same character in most movies has followed him throughout his career.

With his upcoming dual role in Sonic 3, Carrey has reinstated himself as one of the most versatile actors capable of blending into any role. Moreover, despite having played the character of Robotnik twice before, Carrey’s return has sparked a wave of excitement among the fans, further highlighting the popularity of his transformations.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is scheduled to release on December 20, 2024.
