The NBC host’s acoustic version of “You Lie” had the audience in tears.

Kelly Clarkson took a page out of the country music catalog for her recent song cover, and she couldn’t have honored a singing legend any better than she did for Reba McEntire.

The Kelly Clarkson Show host is famous for her “Kellyoke” opening segment, and she paid homage to the queen of country music on the November 7 taping of the NBC daytime series. For this episode, Kelly channeled Reba by singing the song “You Lie,” which appeared on her 1990 album Rumor Has It. As Kelly stood in Studio 6A in a white dress adorned with multi-colored flowers all over, she had the entire audience in their feels with her acoustic rendition of the ballad. And if that wasn’t enough, the show’s social team made sure to note how emotional the viewers got when they posted a clip of the performance on Instagram.

“Feels 💙 @reba,” read the caption.

Upon listening to Kelly’s stirring cover, fans online were equally as moved as those watching it on TV.

We ❤️ Kelly and Reba!

“I feel like I am never gonna stop crying over these beautiful and emotional Kellyokes 🥹🥹😍😍,” one person wrote in the comments. “Absolutely amazing! You Lie is one of those songs I never thought could be covered. You slayed!” another agreed. “Ummm.. That was better than…this is so difficult…Sorry Ms Reba.. the original version..❤️,” one fan declared. “Reba will be so proud 🔥🙌👏,” a different viewer added.

Well, if this isn’t a way to honor someone who has a special place in Kelly’s life! Folks may remember the two were in-laws at one point, when Reba was married to Narvel Blackstock and Kelly was married to Narvel’s son Brandon. While both couples have since split, Kelly and Reba often stay in each other’s orbits. In fact, Reba actually made an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on October 31, where she and boyfriend Rex Linn helped Kelly put on the ultimate Beetlejuice bash on daytime TV.

As for whether Kelly has ventured into other songs from Reba’s discography, viewers may remember she sang a version of “Till You Love Me,” off of Reba’s 1994 album Read My Mind. And after hearing this most recent performance, we hope she has more covers planned in the future.
