Vasquez becomes the first Philippine-born contestant to reach the top 5 on ‘The Voice’.
Filipino singer Sofronio Vasquez has made history as the first Philippine-born contestant to reach the Top 5 on the 26th season of “The Voice.” This exciting announcement was made during the results episode on Monday night.
Now living in Utica, New York, the Misamis Occidental native’s journey on “The Voice” is a proud moment for Filipinos, both in the US and back home.
On Instagram, he shared his excitement with followers, saying, “We made it to the FINALE of @nbcthevoice. Thank you so much, America. Maraming Salamat sa lahat ng Filipinos who made waves.”
But before competing on “The Voice,” Vasquez was already a finalist on “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” a popular daily Filipino singing competition.
Here are some of his iconic performances.
Michael Buble’s ‘Feeling Good’
It’s a full-circle moment for Vasquez. From performing Michael Bublé’s songs on local singing competitions to now being coached by Bublé himself on “The Voice,” his journey has come full circle.
His powerful rendition of Bublé’s hit earned him a well-deserved standing ovation from the renowned Filipino judges that time.
‘Bulag, Pipig at Bingi’
Vasquez is not just an expert at singing English songs as he’s equally talented with performing OPM songs.
With his own take of the Filipino classic “Bulag, Pipi at Bingi” by Freddie Aguilar, he has proven that he knows exactly how to capture the audience.
His performance was nothing short of explosive with this one, showcasing his unique style and the hard work he’s put into perfecting his craft.
‘Next in Line’
